Theres no other reason why there are so many threads here putting down WAR, sad part is they have no actual facts or evidence to why they are putting it down, mostly the complaints are about "prove to me this game is good" or the inevitable game comparisons.
People, no one is forcing you to play WAR, if you don't like it go somewhere else. There is no reason for anyone to try and prove to YOU whoever YOU are that this game is worth playing. If you're so interested in WAR and whats great about it, then go look it up yourself.
Its fact that every game in MMO history has evolved off eachother borrowing whatever works and adding more Mythic is not "stealing" or "ripping off" other games since every game it could possibly take from has already taken that same thing from another game and another and another.
Theres hundreds of other MMO's for these type of people to troll, but they choose WAR, not because its actually bad in anyway but to the contrary they troll here because its going to be great and they're afraid of it, if they are planning to play a different MMO in 2008 they know WAR will take their subscribers, if they're playing a current MMO they know WAR will take their subscribers. By putting down WAR they feel more secure, almost trying to prove to themselves that the game will be bad so they will think that their own game is better, which is practically a case of self delusion.
I'm most positive people wont stop, and we'll see the same topics over and over like we already are, but i wish some would just take a step back and look at themselves and what their motives are before posting.

You can call it fear if you want, but I don't think anyone here is afraid of a video game. I would call it disgust. Disgust that the last few years of this genre have been nothing more then same rehashed garbage that appeals to the lowest common denominator. There is plenty of basis to much of the criticism leveled at WAR, you choose to not read it or be objective enough to consider it. People are digusted with devs who keep recycling the same MMO and slapping a new franchise name on the box, and stupid hype campaigns that try to make you feel warm and fuzzy like Paul Barnett and Brad McQuaid's "vision".
People keep making claims about this game, most of which have never played it. If we judged every game by what the dev's hype and spin doctors describe it as, there wouldn't be any MMO failures and the market would be overwhelmed and saturated with viable AAA titles. History has shown that this is not the case, and honestly you're going to just have to suck it up if everyone doesn't take a big swallow of the BS spewed out by the likes of fanbois and PR people.

We're gonna see the same trolls trolling over and over again no matter what. If WAR is half of what the devs are promising and half of what it's shaping up to be, it's gonna be one heck of a fun game. Your best bet is to flat out ignore the trolling. No one (except those under NDA) can genuinely say whether this will be a good game or not at this juncture. To me personally, its the only game on the horizon that has wholeheartedly captured my interest and imagination, but everyone has different opinions. There's always going to be immature kiddies creating juvenile "Game A" vs. "Game B" posts. There's always gonna be gamers who aren't fans of PvP. There's always gonna be gamers who idealize the past and beat their chests about the buggy, time-sink gaming of 1999 they miss so much.

I have said this before if you don't like mmo's, why are you playing them. He's not being a hypocrite. He said past games are trash, WAR is still in the future and he has every right to defend it. Difficult to understand I know.
It's the enivitable end of an age they fear. The fear that WoW will see an exodus of the likes that will rival the hebrews flight from egypt and the fall of their God Ramses II. They fear a Moses of Warhammer will take their people and destroy their world with plagues that will have even the mightiest gold farmer running for the sea to escape.
The sun is growing dark with rumor of an age of reckoning that casts it shadow over all kingdoms, elves, and the burning crusade. The arm of doom comes for them...most are in denial, but thats usually the case when an apocalypse comes.
Unfortunately there are many people who post in game forums they have no interest in playing. These people will continue to post, as this is the history of gaming forums. It is sad, I agree, but it is true.
Why troll a forum of an mmo that no one ever herd of, one that will probably not even make release and if it does it will have all of a thousand subs if even that? Much better to troll a forum of one of the better upcoming mmos, war (or aoc =p) Add to that you have people who are trying to prove that a game is not good because it's not the way they want (no ffa pvp in war! No ganking etc) And you end up with a lot of people trolling, or making stupid comments which aren't much better.
PS: Wth would people think that wow will die I don't know. Even if you imagine an unthinkable, and say that war and aoc and other upcoming mmos will take 7 millions from wow, wow will still have 2 millions left. Anyway, wow isn't dieing for at least 10 years so blah.
People are not afraid of WAR, it is just popular and garners a large faction of supporters and haters.
WoW is not going to come close to dying because of WAR. WAR is going to be a success, IMO, even though I don't plan to play it. In the end, with it's pvp endgame, it will become like WoW and DAOC: a never-ending whine fest about OP'd classes and FOTM-ers. As a long time supporter of Mythic and DAOC who is tired of the moaning a pvp endgame brings, I am going to try to stay away from this one. Just personal preference is all, it will have nothing to do with actual WAR gameplay (good or bad).
I would say fear is definately the wrong word but thats your opinion just as I am going to give you my opinion.
I do not see anything War is bringing to the gaming world that deserves such a high amount of hype. Their is only one thing this game is even doing that tweaks my interest and that is the tier system they are using, other then that its just another game and like it or not all the people so high up on this game will eventually start bitching and moaning after they have played it for a while just like what happens in every game that has ever come out.
I dont draw into the hype as I have learned over the years thats all it is...hype. Some people are gonna get so hyped on this game then when they actually get to play it they will be disappointed and then, well, here comes the bitching and crying. Just like once people start getting to end game and see after a while its the same thing over and over. Or when someone does the number crunching and starts to figure out the FOTM, hmm shall I say it, oh what the hell more whining and bitching.
Basically what I am saying is this is a fact in the gaming world and people just need to understand not everyone is going to like the same game you like and vice versa. What needs to be done more around here (forums as a whole) is stop trying to convince every damn body about a game, instead be productive and tell people why it is a game you prefer and you know what, you may actually then find the types of players you would like to see in the game because you pointed out things in the game that they were also looking for.

Posts asking to be CONVINCED to play this game are not of people wanting to play or gain any type of information at all about the game, these people want to break down every piece of information and turn it into a negative in order to compound their dicisions.
There is a sticky at the top of this forum www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/118753 that provides all the information they could want, along with their official website. There is no information they could attain from posting here and challenging fans to show them whats good or bad that they could not attain from these 2 sources.

You know, there were times when you can actually notice the differences in MMO's out there...For example UO and EQ...When EQ came out lots of people left UO to give it a try and Im sure the majority loved it because it was totally different for example going from 2d and 3d or from 1st person view and 3rd person view...The current games out there on the market shows very little improvements, of course games are going to look different graphically or what not, but in the end everyone's still going to grind grind and grind some more...

I've played quite a few MMO's, table top games, live action games and console games. Of all of them, I've been able to identify what is fun and what is not. So far the Mythic team has done a wonderful job of crafting an RvR game that no only adheres to the IP, but also brings out the best parts of Massively Multi-player Online games.
If you don't like it then you are either a pansy who can't handle some intense gritty fun, or you haven't actually watched the videos and read the information that shows what WAR is about and why it's going to be a good game.
The game is currently in closed beta, which means they aren't done yet. It also means that passing judgment on it now likely means you haven't even played it yet. If you're so closed minded that you can't do a little research or play the game before calling it rehashed garbage, then your opinion has no value.

why are there so many haters out there. Who cares if other players don't feel WaR is their type of game. Thats the great thing about MMOs nowadays...there's so much variety to appeal to the needs of different type of gamers. I personally can't wait for WaR but I won't put down other people that don't feel the same way i do about a game. I'm sure any mature minded gamer would agree that while arguing why cetain MMOs are good and others aren't up to par might be fun to do =d in the end its just a game and eventually something better will always be on the horizon. For now I'd just suggest players keep an open mind especially if there are still new to MMOs and explore the different games till they find their niche.
Exactly what I was just saying. There is no real need for somebody to put down another game, especially if they haven't played it. But, for some reason there are always people out there looking for their drama fix on a forum somewhere.

I don't believe you are unbiased at all. I agree that your earlier post in this thread was fair. But I do not think that accurately represents your behavior all the time. An important part of being unbiased is to accept both positive and negative things said about a game. To only want positive compliments is to be biased. And it doesn't have to be me posting - if anyone posts anything that isn't a compliment about AoC it will get jumped on by an elite few members (they know who they are). I see a post you made in the AoC forum recently insulting someone because he said the people watching the nudity footage all appeared to be teenagers. Was that unbiased? Seemed like a fair statement.. but it was negative... and you didn't like it.To blindly generalize and say every post I join I turn into a WAR vs AoC battle for no other reason than because I have posted a few things against AoC.... is biased. It simply isn't true. You want it to be true to rationalize your dislike of me, but it isn't. I don't know what more I can say. Honestly, it isn't I do not like you, but I do not like when you troll. I have maybe responded to one or two of your other posts so I do not see where you can assume I do not like you, as you have made many posts that I do not touch. There have been many issues with AoC that are negative that I do not touch. That guy METALDRAGON just stalks Avery on these forums, it is pretty obvious. Most of the people there were not even teens. Unfortunately neither you nor him go to the AoC official forums where basically everything has been gone over. Anybody seriously interested in Age of Conan will go to their official forums for information not here.Also, there is a difference in posting out of concern, and trolling. He was trying to start a fight with the AoC users, it was obvious.
There have been many topics here where Age of Conan is bashed, and I leave them alone. It is when people post opinions but post them in a matter that they try to make them out to be fact. Like what Jor888 used to do claiming Age of Conan was a PVE game with a little pvp thrown in. Those are the users I go back at.

Meh, I was one of those Vanguard fanboys actually. I understand why they are defending their game. Especially when this topic is made in a negative connotation. This post could have easily been added to the "What makes a next gen mmo" topic, and he would have been taught that graphics do not = next gen.
