Open Beta

Any predictions as to its date? I'm guessing July-August. But I also am guessing it might be a fee...  I wouldn't mind though  Just as so long as I was able to play it... (And I'm sure many of you share this feeling.)

It's too hard to predict a date for other phases/pushes, while it has been stated they are due another push here in a few days.  Perhaps since the download site is down, as per statement by the dev, they could be getting ready for another wave of testers.

None knows for sure right now, but until Blizzard or a rep makes a post about it, we have no clue.  Sure seems like they should be adding more though.

well right now the game is coming along really well and i see hardly any glitches. i think they could go into open beta sooner then you guys think but they still want to get sales so open wont start until a month or so before release.

No, we won't have to pay for open beta. Why? Because it's a beta: legally speaking - an unfinished product. Of course, they could probably think of some "other" reason for adding a fee for beta (think Microsoft). But it's akin to paying for a demo.

Well if you look at release dates on this site, you will thet the date is 08/30/04 for the WoW game(think it is the beta) So that probably means that the beta will be released then way to long to wait. But i hope the and that the BETA will be released around that date Cheers!

if they are going to do the open beta 30 days be4 the release it could mean the beta starts 01/08

Yeah open beta will begin just shortly before the game goes gold. The only reason Blizzard would hold an open beta is to assess server stability, much like the recently launched Lineage 2. Anyone else that played during open beta of L2 would remember the constant downtime of servers and the huge amount of time it even took just to login because the servers couldn't handle it. Towards the end these problems were fixed though.. Same thing will happen with WoW.

So your saying open beta test next month, then in 2nd Auguest which is when the game is schedaul for release, it will be time to start paying.

Read that thread, should help a bit. There was a long article done by a gaming site, where Blizzard announced how they would progress the beta phases. Take that information I posted on that link above, and look at the rate the games's progressed thus far. From that you can get a rough estimate of when they will have all levels-classes-skills open in the game, I'd say open beta wouldn' tbe longer than 2-3 months after that. I was in SB-Lin2-CoH "closed" beta's, and the open beta for all but shadowbane came pretty quick after the start of CB. They may keep it closed beta until all but the last month however, they have enough applicants that they can add as many players as they want when ever they want without ever having to have open sign ups. So my advice is, if yer waiting on open beta, you might as well just buy the game by the time you get to play OB.

you all have to realize that blizzard has a little higher quality of standards that they place on their selvs, and they are actualy a bit hash on judging what they put out.  but this is ok, because when they do come out with it, it will be very good, and not to many bugs, but there will always be some. 

there are 2 things that have been said on this thread and others that i agree with.

1.  open betta will come out only a max of 30 days before launch.  this is for one reason only, and thats to test their back bone.  i know, other people know, and i know that they know that the first time open beta goes live, the instant it does, their servers will crash.  its something that cant be escaped, something that will happen, guranteed.

2.  the other thing is that the closed beta will last a lot longer than everyone thinks.  this is for a good reason.  like stated above, they want to make sure that they have a good product, and not something that is craptastic.  i've seen on other threads that they have recently pushed the date back once again very recently.  i dont know if this is true because some places reflect the old date, while others say that it will launch some time in november now.

i know that every one has been waiting on this game for a long time, but we have to give blizzard a little bit of a chance.  this is the first time that they have made a game like this, while other people have had 5+ years xp on this kind of game.

i dont think that we'll see this game untill about december-ish, but it really woulnd hurt me to see it come out some time Q1 in 2005.

the beta starts in june(closed) and since the game got pushed up it might go on longer than expected. but i think the open might start after august.

the next push #4 will start soon and if there is a push #5 itll b around august cause patch number #4 is "juss around the corner". also they still have alot of fixing up to do so the open beta will b AROUND SEPTEMEBER OR NOVEMEBER. Earliest the game can possibly come out is november 15.

In one of the recent posts by Blizzard they said WoW would come out around the holdiay season, so best bet would be in November-December.  Since beta tests are pretty much just to stress test servers with high traffic, they beta test wont be open for long, or long before the game comes out.

30 days for an open beta test seems kinda long, I would guess between a week and a half to two weeks.

Highly doubt that the game will come out before Thanksgiving, but all told, I WANT IT ASAP.

I've been following this game for 2 years now and am dying to see it in action.  If they release an open beta soon that will just make my day.  If not, oh well...gonna buy the game anyway.

Relase dates allways get pushed back so i'm lookin at november for open beta out in time for christmas.

open beta is gonna be sooo sweet, you could try out all charecters before you even buy the game, of course you won't be able to reach lvl cap, and all ur chars will be wiped out when game goes gold, but at least we won't lose sleep at night wondering how the game is
