What has changed?

in Everquest II

I've been hearing so many good things about this game lately.  I'm thinking about coming back, but for now its just a thought.  What I want to know is what has changed in the last year or so since last I played?  I liked it ok back then, but it was getting hammered by players back then.  With the few expansions that have come out, what makes it so now almost all I hear is good things?  Thanks in advance for the info
