I was recently thinking of creating a guild designed to specifically train new players in one of the up and coming MMOs such as WAR, AoC, or Aion. Not sure which atm, but the idea would be to initially learn the game together with a group of people and help each other out. Once the guild is established, and knows the game fairly well we would recruit new players and help teach them the basics. After they are accustomed to the game, and decently skilled players it would be their choice to stay or move on from the guild.
Now I'm not talking about holding their hands all the way through, or doing quests/dungeons for them. What I want to do is create a fun community that is noob friendly, train players to be better and have fun. I would hope that this would also contribute to the servers community as well by having players who know how to play in pugs, show proper etiquette to others, and again to have fun!
What are your thoughts on this, and do you think It could work? Also if you have suggestions to refine this idea just let me know. All input is welcome.

I used to do this. It will definetly work on 1 condition. The leader is active. Once the leader goes inactive, the guild will fall through. What you get in alot of mmos when inviting many new players are the new players going inactive. Every week you should prune out all the inactive members, and replace with a fresh crop of noobies.
Its also alot more fun then being in a more powerful guild of people competing to be the best, and alot more respectible.
I'll join on two conditions...the one mentioned by the guy above me...and under the condition that that game is AoC xD
Check out the MUD I'm making!
I'd just create an officer and a group of volunteers to help out those new to MMORPG's. Why cut people lose after they've already made friends in the guild, etc.?
It worked in EVE. EVE University is a very successful training corporation for new players. In fact, most vets of the game will refer people to the corp so that they can learn the basics faster. Don't see why it couldn't work in any other game.
Thanks for the suggestion. As a guild leader I don't plan on being inactive, but I will probably not be hardcore, but I do have officers lined up to help me with that who are quite hardcore. Do you all think I should only recruit a max number of new players at a time such as 10-20, because I already have at least a couple of officers lined up to help me out on this.
BTW thanks to everyone for their input thus far, but don't stop keep it coming!
Heh I still havn't decided completely. I'll probably not do it for Aion, but it's going to boil down between WAR and AoC. I'll let you know in the near future if I made up my mind. That is if your still interested.
Not the most original of ideas but still it is the thought that counts :> Every game has guilds like these no ? I'll join if you make the leader who doesn't have to do anything but reaps the results.
Nah,
We do this to help players and the leader works as much as the members then ill join up.
