Hey guys, MMO vet who is just now trying DAoC.
I have a few questions.
1. What are "BGs" exactly? How do I get to them from the starting area?
2. What are the main places for PvP?
3. Is there a town sqaure type thing where everyone trades/hangs out. IE: Ironforge, Britain Bank(UO)... (I'm hyborian)
4. What is crafting like? Can you compare it to another MMO?
Thanks!

1. Battlegrounds. You need to be level 5, 20, 35-40. or 48 to 50 to enter a Battlegrounds. I may be wrong about the last level requirements.. I forget. The level five Battle Ground is nothing that special.. It really gets Intense at level 20.
2. The Battlegrounds at levels below 50. At level 50 you may enter the Frontiers and battle against the other Realms. Now you can enter the Frontier and go on an adventure.. but you usually get ganked hard core.
3. Yes there is a Town Square in each of the main cities for each Realm. People Craft there most of the time or enter Catacombs.
4. Crafting is pretty basic.. I guess you could compare the crafting to Everquest or Everquest 2? It really isn't that much different to me.
If you have any other questions feel free to post again! Hopefully I could be of some help to you.

Yaten is correct , but not about his #1, which is dismally wrong.
#1 battlegrounds are lvl 11(i think this just changed to this, becuase 1-10 you have two pvp dungeons near starting cities, but they still may have the lvl 1-4 and 5-9 bgs) to lvl 49.
Basiclly YOU can always pvp with/against people close to your level. they all go in groupgs like 10-14 15-19, etc.
Most are rather active these days. (they have 200% exp from mobs in them)
Crafting is hella boring, however, its equipment are super useful.

I thought I was wrong about the BG thing =P Oh well close enough!
The BG are level specific fighting areas for those players under level 50. The first one is level 1-4. They only see real populations around level 20, although you might find some action before than on the Classic servers. Leveling is so quick and you have so few abilities at that low of a level that people do not usually bother with it.
You can access the BG by going to the certain teleporters. They will usually have a light blue ring around their feet if they can TP. I am unsure if all TP can send you to the BG though. The ones that I know about are the gates that lead to the front. People usually wait until level 50 to do RvR outside of the BG. There is an open fighting area and then a huge dungeon that people fight in as well.
The capital cities are the closest thing to a "town square." They should be near the starting area. If it is a group you are looking for, then use the looking for group flag. Also there is a /lfg channel to talk in. If it is just chatting then there is the /region chat channel. Last, if you need advice there is the /advice channel.
Crafting is boring but powerful. You get raw material - usually from an NPC. You open up some crafting windows and put the icon for you want to craft on your quickbars. You then click that icon and a little greenbar pops up and you wait for the green bar to finish. It goes very quick at low skill but takes minutes at the higher levels.
1) BG's are battlegrounds that are arranged by a level range. You enter them and the three realms all fight for control of a middle keep.
2) BG's and the frontiers for higher levels are the places to go for PvP.
3) There is a housing district that functions as a market as well.
4) I've strangely never crafted so someone else will have to help me out there.
Overall its a really fun game for new or old players, I'm currently having a blast and its the only MMO that keeps dragging me back.

Its understandable they said they were going to change it , but they never did (decieded is was best not to) .I thought I was wrong about the BG thing =P Oh well close enough!
That being said really from lvlv s 11-49 there is pop in bgs now because of the 200% exp, still thidranki 21-24 ands a few other have a ton of population just for pvp reasons (and you can't npc exp there because you'll just get ganked alot)

thanks for the replies guys.
From what I get, people don't bother with lower level pvp. With that in mind, what's the fastest way to get to the level cap? How long would it take?
Oh. also, what's hibernia capital city?
Ok ill say this one last time , The bgs have plenty of population.
1-10 no, 11-49 yes . 20-24 ton , and two others its like 34-39 and 44-49 i think also have very large populations.
That beign said i have played the game at points for 5 months without TRYING to get max level becuase i was pvping in bgs, AS there is alot of pvp in bgs before 50.
A few people have said otherwise don't really play the game much , becuase its not true. (at one point it was but no longer. Once in a while you may not find a lot of people in one or two of the bgs but its more rare than not).
Hibs Capital is Tir ni nog, or is it Tir na nog anyway thats it.
PS play on classic servers, i think they are great , but normal servers are good also.

OK the BG's and how to get there have been explained. Thidranki which is 20 to 24 and Molvik which is 35 to 39 are very busy. The rest are pretty empty. lvl 50 rvr realm V realm is awsome you can travel to the other realms and take there keeps or just kill other grps. Or you can defend your realm from attacks. There are also a couple of rvr dungeons Darkness falls and The Labirynth which are pvp and rvr. Join a guild (not hard to find) and they will gear you up and show you the ropes.
