I'm interested in what everyone's first game ever was.
I'm not talking about like crappy flash online games or something. What was the first game that you purchased/was purchased for you that you played for any period of time? I realize that this may spark some debate because some of the older and original games were hand made, with a little picture drawn on them in a plastic bag, but use your best judgment in deciding you think your first game ever was.
For me: Age of Empires
------------------------------------
Playing: Age of Conan Trial (trying to at least)
Played: Runescape, WoW, FFXI, Fury
Tried: LotRO, EVE, CoV, PotCO

Either Pac-Man or Q-bert, but I can't remember. It was when I was a kid, and my pops had the Atari.

I still remember in the tank game if you wedged your tank into a corner and turned it you could make it skip to the opposite side of the map. My very first abuse of an exploit!
First ever game? Damn.. I'm young but it's hard to remember either way, I THINK the first ever game I played as far as I can remember was either.... Lemmings/Worms original or Command and Conquer, certainly one of the three but I can't actually remember.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
first game i remember is probably snap or go fish, the card games.
for electronic games, i remember the arcade "space invaders" B&W screen with coloured plastic in strips on the screen.
i was give a Vectrex for xmas. also, B&W with coloured plastic inserts.
hmm.. wasn't asteroids included with the 2600 ? i remember "hype" about the release of pac-man for this console and i can honestly say i was severely disappointed by it.

Combat was the shizznit...because it had the tanks and airplanes and a few different ways to play. I love the pong style ones where you could fire and have it bounce off the walls.Space Invaders and Buck Rodgers were others I remember playing...

I remember my rich friend had the 64 when I was about 6 or 7. We were addicted to space invaders.
When my parents got me my 64 I was practically bouncing off the walls with joy and excitement.

Hm.. probably the frogger remake for the ps1. I'm almost sure I played stuff before that, but that was the first game I had for my console. Hm.. Or maybe, I'm not sure if I got my SNES before that..that would make it Super Mario World 2.
I remember this feeling as well...my family could probably have been considered upper-lower class at the time when we got our Comodore 64...and it could not have been more of a surprize.
My parents did this one more time for us kids when we were a little bit older to, when they purchased the original Nintendo system with four controllers (came with super spike volley ball and world cup soccer)...I was in kid heaven.
Ahhhh the joy video games have brought me without even playing...

I remember my uncle visiting in his RV. My brother and I stayed in there the whole weekend playing pong back in '76 on an old black and white tv in the RV
your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't
Can't even remember, probably like Kirby's Adventure or Fester's Quest.
