woohoo, just signed up to post! This game looks great!!!

Hi everyone! I just registered today to post on these Forums!  The community looks great, besides the usual antics that seems to happen on these things.  They do make me laugh sometimes though...

I have been playing mmorpgs since I signed up to UO back in 1998.  IMHO Uo was the best thing out there.  Nothing gave me more of a sense of adventure than hanging out at crossroads invis waiting for unsuspecting victims to run by.... Dread Lord all the way!  Then when Trammel came out it was sooo much fun taming dragons and sending them out to deal dealth in some good old fashion guild to guild combat.  Oh the good old days.....

Anyways AoC looks great.  I have been a fan of the Conan books for a long time, and have just recently been re reading all the adventures of our sexy pimp of a barbarian.  I really hope they can capture the style of the books!! When i read them I get such vivid images of what the world is like.  With all these fluffy MMOs that have been coming out, I'm craving a savage world that AoC looks like it will portray!

Yea I'm going to have to buy a new system to play it though.  One beast of a system at that.  Now the question is do i take my chances with Vista, hoping that microsoft will fix everything by then? Or stick with the tried and trusted XP?  Decisions Decisions.....

  • VarkingVarking Member UncommonPosts: 542

The longer you wait to buy that new beast, the better. Not only will better stuff be out, but the best stuff that is out now will be much cheaper. I would go with Vista for the DX10, but I would wait until February to get that, and the computer.

I'm working selling mortgages... and if anyone has seen the news about what's going on in the industry you know my pain.  The longer the wait the better I say!!

When is AoC slated to be released?  I know I can usually bank on a good 3-6 months after that when it REALLY comes out lol.

    Hi welcome to the community!

AoC is slated for release march 25th 2008 now.

Wouldn't worry to much about buying an expensive system, they have been demoing it with an average dual core and a 7900 gts card lately and it looks and runs pretty good for beta.

Here is a fan movie I made showing some of the scenery off: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/98109.html

Thanks!  Great movie!  Hah his arm got hacked off and he's still fighting... awsome!

I've never been into building my own system, I'll have to get one of my buddies to do it or find somewhere that sells good systems at a reasonable price.  I played Vanguard for a couple months my notebook and it was a little choppy.  God knows that was a resource heavy game.  I haven't upgraded it since December 2005 though so it's about time to look into getting a desktop.

The end of March huh, that's right around the corner!  They have a xbox360 conan game coming out in November i believe, that should hold me over until this lol.  My fiance is pregnant and due at the end of February... I hope I can find time to play some Conan!!!!

Hey  M1rko,  I'm an old school UO'er also.   I played on Pacific, and was also a Dread Lord.   We narrowly roleplayed, and when I say Narrowly, I mean we only did it while killing people.   We seldomly talked around outsiders.   Dread Lord of Illusions  was my favorite MMO charactor of all time.   So much fun.   We had a castle north of Minoc, and a big guild moved in, and they Harrassed us, so we took to fighting them on a regular basis.   This was my high point in MMO gameplay.   Nothing more exciting.

Hmm a war mammoth huh?  Is that a mount?

  • AmazingAveryAmazingAvery Age of Conan AdvocateMember UncommonPosts: 7,188

Sure is! or you can have a WAR Rhino as a mount, both are used in the seige warfare.

Mammoths - knock down walls and all sorts

Rhino's - People and Gates on the Battlekeep!

Nice.  So I'm assuming you'll be able to ride a mount at level 1? Since they give you one for pre ordering and all....

Level 40 is the requirement for a mount like a horse, camel

Thats also the level that you can build things, when say as an Architect profession, buildings needed for the BattleKeep say or you PvE City.

I think the mammouth and war rhino are only available in the Border Kingdoms though..

It should take about 50 hrs to geto level 40

    Welcome!

I hope AoC lives up to your expectations, as well as my own.

Just for kicks if you liked conan go check out the Korgoth cartoon that was posted here.  I got a good laugh out of it, maybe you will too

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
