    Generaly if you go cheap on laptops your going to get boned i recomend hp

    I recommend waiting until Asus EEE's are out.  They are really cheap, like $150.  Ultra mobile, and powerful enough to do what you would typically need a laptop for.  Also if you bring it to classes, its not powerful enough to play alot of modern games, so you can actually listen to the lectures and really take notes.

    I bought a $250 Acer... upgraded the RAM and put Vista64 on instead of Basic and it works great.  I just use it for Project Management, PowerPoint, surfing, chat, and some basic indy gaming.

    I do, however, do some development on it.  Takes awhile to compile, but it does the job nicely.

    i feel bad for you vista in any form is bad should have put xp on it
