 It all good i just deleted the entire game. Why would you put out a free trial and then expect someone to throw out their personal info for something they might not like.

 

 Call it what you will flame away, if they put out that a card will be needed to play free trial I woudn't wast my time. I do have a debit/credit card, and curently playing another game for 4 years with it. I might be wrong but i hoping most people wouldnt put their info out their for a game for 14days of haven no clue if you will even paly it.

Understand that when the game was released (7 yrs ago or so) that the whole 'credit card trial' was commonplace.

I'll agree that it should be changed since genuine free trials are now the norm for the MMO genre.

It is really simple.  DAOC never deletes anyone's info.  There are a lot of people that play free trials over and over setting up accounts - usually those who cannot pay for the game.  So why put out a trial where you people can play for free, take up server space, take up valuable character names, when those people will never be able to pay?

All you need to do is put in your info and play.  You can cancel right afterwards and still play for 14 days.  They just want to keep the kids from rushing into the game and bring down the community.

Anyway you can CANCEL your account right after activating your trial... you'll be able to play your 14days trial without worrying for the bills after the trial

I really don't see how it would be a problem, doing it with out a card, I mean free play and someone redoing new accounts. How much fun would that be? Make it 7 day trial and no card needed, I'll know in a few days if I want to continue to play. Then I will give out my info, other then that its not a free trial. Hell give out free trials for a month then stop, I just don't want to put my info out more then I have to.

Exactly what I was thinking. All you have to do is enter it then cancel as soon as you log in and you'll still get your 14 days free.  It's really not a big deal in my opinion.

using a credit card is pretty standard in most MMORPG trials. Remember, its a business....they want your money!!!!

I'm glad I read this thread  I was gonna look for a trial to download but like the OP I have never given out my CC number for a free trial.  It might just be paranoia but either way...

If your paranoid about giving out your CC to play a game then you're probably not the ideal customer. Besides simply get a gift card and there ya go, no worries. I wish a few other games did this, like Eve-Online. Would sure cut down on the ISK Seller spam.

Actually I do use my card and pay my monthly fees I just do not like giving the info out when there is no need to yet. But the gift card idea is a good one.
