Recommend an MMO for me plz!

Hello everyone, I've been playing MMO's along time and i still love the genre.  Lately i'm having problems finding a game i can really get into.  I haven't played much in the last few years, the marine corps keeps me busy, but no i got time to play again and i'd love to start up in a good game.  with that said here's kinda what i'm looking for.

1) decent population is a must, I hate soloing and playing by myself is lame(might as well put in final fantasy if i wanna be alone).

2) Good community, I've tried several in the last week and just been disgusted by the other players, i mean i played 2moons for 9 hours and not 1 person wanted to group up, and not more then 2 people would even talk to me.

3) I prefer fantasy but i'd go give sci-fi a try if i meet the above.

4) free would be nice but if i have to pay i wanna at least get a trial.(sick of wasting money on hallow games.)

5) Something for the end game, PVP or raid PVE either one i can live with.

6) I really don't want the endless hack and slash like D2, 2moons, lineage style none stop hack it up all day and night.  But i'll even take that if i can consistently find a group to plow through the levels with.

7) If anyone is playing a game like this and wants and experience MMOer who can put 5ish hours a day into the game and they need More for guild or group plz feel free to send message or post reply.

Ya i know i'm not too picky right

anyway here are what i've already done.

everquest

everquest 2

last chaos

shadowbane(was really excited to try this one out, but none would even talk to ya let alone group or guild ya)

asheron's call

DAoC

guild wars

lineage2

planetside

and i'm about to go check out tibia right now.( never done the 2d graphics in an mmo so i don't know if i'll be able to get into it, but its worth a look see.)

Prolly missing a few but o well.  Hope i get some interesting feedback, thanks in advance.

Personally I think the best game out currently is EQ2.  It has the most depth of any of the games I have played and I am really enjoying it.  I haven't played the endgame yet (as I have been playing about 2 months) since my two characters are level 40 and level 41.  If you are going to check it out again check out the Antonio Bayle server.

ok ya i've done WoW and i hate it, its everything i dont like, too easy, and none group till lvl 50-60 lame waste of time for most of it.  and well i just dont like it.

As for EQ2 i did like eq 2( i played eq 1 for 5 years) but my poor laptop almost died and the game was a pain in the arse to play with my comp.  shoulda mentioned that i'm not one top notch PC.  EQ runs great, and WoW, and all games in the level of graphics, the brand new high end graphic games are outta my PC range.

thanks for reply's i am checkin back often

You like grouping, a good community, and have 5 hours a day?  Final Fantasy XI is my suggestion.

$20 for the game with all current expansions including one free month, or $5 for the game without expansions including one free month.  There's no free trial, unless you get a buddy key from a new/existing player.

Good community for the most part with great interaction.  Trying to solo after level 10-12 is just pointless, and the higher the level you become the worse it gets, becoming next to impossible.  There are a few classes that can solo level, mainly beastmaster, but it's tedious.  The game is about making friends and doing things with other people.  Groups are necessary for almost everything as classes are dependent on each other, and where they're not necessary it's still much more fun to be in one.

The best suggestion I can make for the 'jaded' or 'lost' gamer is to pick something entirely outside your normal comfort zone.

Choose a type of game that you would usually steer clear of and give it a try for one or two weeks, then, if you really don't like it, progress on to the next game.

It will help widen your gaming perspective and you may even come across something that you enjoy, even though you would usually avoid that genre.

What about you try Lunia, a MMORPG arcade game? A very good game if you like to play with other players.

In Lunia you do stages like old offline games, but this time you will do it with a lot off other players from the world. ( You realy have to do it with other players, or you wont  say this game is easy. )

When you start the game, it may be a bit difflicult to understand, but after some time you will not having problems with figth and that.

There is realy a end to this game, when you done all stages in it. But of course there are a lot off other things to do! Play the bonus stages, do quests, re-do stages and... Simply wait until new stages comes.

The graphic is like: 2-D backgrounds and 3-D graphics, you may want to see  picture?

    http://global.lunia.com/scrshot/list.asp?ConfigID=5

So, do you want to take a look?

    http://global.lunia.com/main.asp

And of course, its a F2P!

The fact that you are having problems finding something should tell you there's a problem. There is a serious lack of quality in recent MMOs that someone other then a fanboy will tell you is true. My suggestion to you is find a stand alone game that has a good multiplayer community to go along with it that can do custom created content. You will ge a much better gaming experience as you are almost garaunteed to get quality and a better chance of not being stuck with the immature crowd that plague MMOs today. So enlight of that here is what I recommend to you.

    Neverwinter Nights 2

    Battlefield 2142

    Diablo 2

    Rainbow Six: Vegas (xbox 360)

    Halo 3 (xbox 360)

    Titan Quest

    id say lunia too...

i played many mmorpg games yet  and lost its fun right after 1-2 months but lunia is different...

first what differs lunia from the other games?

lunia is a  mix of roleplaying game with an arcade game from the old arcade stations nice cell shading graphics and adventure....

it has 3 difficulties atm 3 episodes in each episode are 10 stages each stage has almost a boss fight and at the last stage an episode boss will wait for u. there are also side dungeons stages) wich arent important to go further with the story but they are good for  items fun and compatition(some dungeons u can play with 8 ppl in a game).  u can also create private rooms so only the ppl can join who knows the room name. if u dont want a guy in a room u can expel him from the room after a vote with more then 50% for the expel he will be kicked. there is also a stage for pvp where u can do pvp up to 4:4.  atm there are 3 different classes of characters (we know from the korean version that there are 6 in total).

Dain is a wizard with power full magics and also a strong pvp character.

Eir is a healer. heaer is needed basicly almost in all games since they can heal and u cant (only with potions wich u have to wait after its used. )

The sieg. is a warrior/fighter he has strong physical attacks and is probably the strongest chr in the game by doing dmg.

the other 3 characters (slime, pupperteer, assasin, will be added up in future i guess since the game is open beta atm).

in lunia is teamwork pretty important u can play at stages up to 4 ppl wich is the maximum just in some dungoens or at pvp u can play with 8 ppl.  why u need team work? basicly a healer doesnt do much dmg it takes way longer to solo a stage.  a knight does much dmg but he cant heal hisself except by using potion wich have their cool down time till the next potion can be used. a wizard is same as a sieg.

every character has a special skill without using mana.

sieg has an upper cut he can throw his enemy up and hit combos while he is flying.

healer can make a pentagram wich makes a triple hit if "s" button is pressed 5 times there are also other shorter versions with other effets like stunn ect.

    wizards has mana regen.

lunia has a lvl system u have a lvl for ur main lvl and a pvp lvl. so u also have 2 exp bars. to lvl ur main lvl u go hunt at stages and to lvl ur pvp lvl u basicly do pvps.

there are also really much quests wich are easy to understand and some needs little time efford but not that much at all. quests gives u items or/and exp or/and gold.

in lunia is the max lvl 65 . during the lvling u will unlock more quests wich depends on ur lvl and also skills will be unlocked at higher  lvl.  each skill has also lvls the higher a skill lvl the more dmg or higher effekt it has. each lvl u get 1 skill point and every 4th lvl u get 2 skill points wich u can use in skills to lvl them if u meet the lvl requirement for it.

i have a lvl 41 healer, lvl 30 knight and 2 lvl 25 wizards. and i can say that lvling is not that hard as in some other games. its this way better so u dont get really bored of lvling.

u also have a friendlist and can create easy a guild. max guild member count is fixed to 200.

with the cash item story u can get new items by paying for it but is not unessecary since there isnt much up yet.

there are 6 kind of  equipments 1st normal 2nd rare 3rd unique 4th boss 5th episode boss 6th quest .

every equipment can be identified to get positive or negativ stats wich adds to urs (positiv or negativ belongs to ur luck)

u can also upgrade ur equipment to make it stronger (stats will be added by doing this) there are in the game fortification stones wich are needed to do this and catalysts wich increases the luck that it gets upgraded. there are chances also that it gets -2 -1 wich are degrades + - 0 wich is no change +1 wich is an upgrade there is also a possibility that the eq gets broken wich can be covered with a stone to repair it again. the max up grade of each eq is +9 at start its 0. another posibility is to make ur armor wich is at start bnormal dimly shining , shining or bright shining wich have a shining effekt visual and also adds stats to the armor.

probably all this informations could be added up to make a book out of it lol but i hope i could give the most important informations wich makes the game intresting in my opinion.

u can also find on broadcast sites movies of lunia where ppl uploaded some boss,  pvp fights or their combos from the practice field.

    server name: soldin

    character name: djhealer (lvl 41)

in case you didn't quite notice the lunia posts are advertisements. i'm not discrediting the game, but this method of advertising and trying to get subscribers makes me question the ethics of the game developers producers but decide for yourself.

Try Rappelz. It's F2P and it has PVP. Plus there is constant struggle to take over a dungeon with your guild. If your guild owns it you gain money everytime someone kills something in it.. very cool. MMOs these days just suck.. if you REALLY want something just awesome.. you'll need to wait till 2008.

[ Played ] 2Moons, Anarchy Online, City of Heroes, City of Villains, Dark Age of Camelot, Everquest, Everquest II, Guild Wars, HellGate: London, Lord of the Rings Online, Rappelz, RF Online, Shadowbane, Star Wars Galaxies, Sword of the New World, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, World of Warcraft, Last Chaos

    [ Playing ] Everquest II

[ Waiting ] Aion, Age of Conan

well i tried out dungeon runners, its kindda funny and even fun, but I don't see playing it for longer then a week, its like a D2 game.  To be fair i only played for an hour, if the others fail i'll go back and try it again.  I logged into metin 2 for a few min. before my lunch break ended, looks nice but i only had a few min. was annoying that you can't world chat till lvl 15 so i can't ask anything just gotta lvl for awhile. gonna keep going with this one, looks like it has potential.   I can't DL lunia probably b/c i'm in japan or something, site wont load.  Got AO downloading right now and i thing its probably a good game from what i've read, i think the problem will be its been out so long that i'll never find anyone to lvl with until i been solo grinding for a month, and I'll loose interest before that, but gonna check it out and see.

I do remember trying rapazl in the past and it was good for what it was, but again its just grind, grind, grind, grind.  Might try it again if i can get some friends to play with me.

Thanks for all the good idea's i'm sure i will like one of them.
