I want to play EVE, but I can't afford the monthly costs...

I think EVE online is great, I've played the free trial and I love it. Only thing is, it costs too much and I can't afford it.

 

BTW I have no idea what kind of conversation this is going to start, I just want to share my sorrow.

IF you can make a certain amount of isk, you can buy Game Time Cards with them and the game is basically free

However... it does take a semi decent character (or lots of time) to make that kind of money in a month.

There is ALWAYS a way to get what you want. Do like bart simpson and start working for your local mofia group, good benefits I hear and no need for a medical plan, when you want out they will take care of that

Hey I could buy game money with real money then use that money to buy a Game Time Card. Still costs money but not as much. Do you think that's a good idea?

CCP give characters that suddenly receive a lot of money (Such as the 200m you will need for a game time card) a negative balance. That means all of your money is confiscated, and you can not really do anything. I wouldn't recommend buying ISK.

Pay $10, and become a Goon.

Then suck it up and pay for a month of EvE.

Then join Goonfleet.

Aside from this being completely ass-backwards, it's also against the rules. The only way to legitimately purchase ISK is by purchasing a time code and selling it to someone else. Really, if you're in a position to be purchasing ISK from some website on the net, you need to just pay for the subscription and quit worrying so much about it. Jumping through hoops won't get you anywhere.

 

EDIT: It's also worth pointing out that with a few good people to give you advice and answer questions, you could be making the 200m you need within the first month or so. While it's probably not a good idea to spend that money on a time card right away (as you'll need it for equipment and such, especially if you die), you could spend it anyways and hope you make above and beyond what you need for the card.

yes cause a server that holds <100 people at a time and still lags to hell will be the exact same experience as one that holds 30k people. If they can manage to get a EVE server emulator up and running it will likely suck as bad as the UO or L2 private servers do.

lol.. an EVE emulator.  That would be terrible.  As said above, there would be practically nobody on it, which means no economy first off, no large scale PvP because the server couldn't handle it even if they managed to get enough people, and completely defeats the purpose of EVE being a single server game.  Good luck with that, but I'll have 100x more fun playing on the real server.
