So it has begun... The Forums have been degraded to a haven for gold spammers to set up scripts to spam multiple forums with the same post plugging their gold selling site.
Nothing like using the forum spy feature to get an up to the minute forum update and ... YES AN ENTIRE PAGE OF TOPIC SAYING "CHEAP GOLD GO TO XXXXXX.COM" - Man that is so much fun.
/sarcasm
Seriously MMORPG Staff.. do something... your community is going to continue to get diluted more and more by people using the forums to promote their gold selling sites in full force, and your loyal members will be coming here less and less.
The problem is getting worse as weeks go by and by this trend and your inaction nothing will be left but gold spam posts.. instead of tells in game you just get posts on the board with nothing you can do about it..
I love this site... please.. do something mods to protect it from going away.
Just saying "well report anyone who does it" That doesnt stop them from creating new accounts, or using another computer, fact is there should be a rule or code in place to diss allow any topics being created with a string of words in it.

I haven't used the spy function as i just check everything regularly, but if i did and i got spammed by glod sites i'd be pretty resentful.
Fix it!
And while you're at it, check the bug section and do something about the topics in there... you seem to be neglecting them.
I mean, look at Alchemda's signiture... see the '' it is incorrect and a bug that has been mentioned months ago...
It has become clear, if you notice the spamming pattern, that the spammers have realized there are no active moderators on the weekends. I've reported spammers on the weekend and watched as the posts just built up, with no action from mods.
You would be surprised at how many people not only do it, but feel they are completely justified and even demand that gold-buying become a regular feature of every game. I've been in guilds where they wanted to throw away their best healer so they could accomodate the GM's best friend who just purchased a healer off eBay. In the same guild, the GM and 3 of his friends had something like 20 different accounts between the four of them that had been powerleveled by Chinese farmers and/or bots, and at least 15 of them had been banned for it. Still, for some reason, they continued to purchase new accounts and spend something like $500 dollars total (per account!) to powerlevel and get banned a few weeks later. Needless to say, I wasn't in this guild for very long, and regretted ever hearing their name.
This is something that we do not take lightly, and that we delete as quickly as possible. Don't worry, it's not ignored I will look into some weekend-heavy moderators, though!

It really has become a problem the last few months, as every Friday the spammers start up and if you are one who uses the "recent" filter to browse the forums, you end up with a wall of "Buy our crap" post spread throughout the different sections.
It's not to say that the mods don't eventually get to the posts when reported, it's just that where you would normally have a mod delete the thread within 10-30 minutes on a weekday, the threads/posts can remain up for hours on the weekend before a mod gets the report and reacts.
I know the mods want to enjoy their weekend just like the rest of us, so whatever you can do for this situation would be appreciated.
If anyone is interested in moderating on the weekends or late nights (midnight to 4am ESTish), please check out our Employment Oppertunities site!
