My impressions of VGSOH- I like it

Despite it's rocky history and problems, it has the frame work of a game I'd likely play over many others. That is, when a number of issues are tuned. I don't have any issues running it on my machine at all, even on high settings, but the friends I played with did, which really detracted from the experience. The shift from what this game was in 2 to 2.5 and then beta 3 cost the game overall, they lost a lot of time scrambling to WoWify it. The game I logged into in 2005 was a totally different game to what we see today, and not all changes, if many at all, were for the better unfortunately.

So, despite it's massive backlog of issues, the parts & dungeons / events that do work properly are great, and I really enjoy many aspects of the game, especially the depth which is a welcome change from the current Mario Brothers design we see in most other, shallow, MMOs. This game needs people that truly enjoy it to be working on it, it needs direction and a sense of self that was sadly lost near the end of beta. I'm still subscribed, have been since release, but haven't actively played in many months now. I do check in on occasion but updates seem slow in coming.

It wouldn't take much to make this my full time game, it's just not there yet. I don't care if it's a mega blockbuster, I don't need 200k+ other players, as long as the community that does exist is enjoyable. So I'll stay subscribed for now, I'll still hope for the best and check in every other month or so, but at this point I'm not holding my breath.

I'm afraid it's failure at launch, however, has doomed us to years of bland, dumbed down, shallow, instant gratification games.  That's the saddest part of it all, for me personally.

So, I'm here cheering it on from the sidelines for now, but considering the most thrilling news they can produce recently is a document explaining the naming policy, it might be a long wait.

Overall, VG:SOH has come a long way since release. I'm a casual gamer, but in a good guild. The game is very enjoyable, and offer a plethora of options.

    Just need 2x:

    Ring of Necessity         64C
    Soulbound
    Jewelry             Left Finger
    +12 FPS
    Item Level: 1
This ring is imbued with the harsh face of reality

Perhaps it just took my leaving to get them into gear. Is it possible they were leaving things broken just to piss me off?

EDIT: Spellcheck came up emty, so I added a typo
