New Idea - IP BAN

I would like to purpose a rule that would clean up the forums.

Say a user creates an account and every post that is made is trashing a game, subjectively. They get banned, then they continue, with post counts of 15 or so , all on one specific game topic all just complete trolling and flaming.

Why not have a rule in place to the effect of  if someone posts complete subjective negative posts with out any proof or evidence to support there claims , they get IP Banned,

 

Here is my example :

This user is adding nothing , but trolls as well as flames to this section of the forum, he has not evenventured into any other subjects, Completely bashing the game for absolutely no reason. With the Low post count and the disregard for trolling riles, he must of been banned already. Think this website is big enough to start enforcing stricter policies on IP Bans.

Fantastic idea.

 

Ban people because the current MMO market is stale and nothing appeals to them right now.

 

Oh wait, I'm not playing an MMO right now... They all fall short of my expectations... Waiting on a few games though, perhaps I should get a suspension until the games I'm waiting for come out and I can be a fanboi?

Don't act coy. You know exactly what I'm talking about.

 

The person says he doesn't like this game becuase , why ? ok he said it once, but repeatedly trashing should no be excepted, and when it is the same ip over and over again it is tiring for me, you and the mods who then turn around and tell the people reporting trolls to stop reporting because we abuse the tool ?  

 

Something needs to get stiffer for the future of this message board.

If you are using the tool to report people for merely giving negative feedback, then you ARE abusing it.

HAVING A NEGATIVE OPINION IS NOT THE SAME AS TROLLING.

Trolling is when you make inflammatory comments for the sole purpose of getting attention.

• Disagreeing with someone is not trolling.
• Expressing dislike of a game is not trolling.
• Making negative comments about the same game in several threads is not trolling.

I know it's frustrating for some that these boards are not a marketing love-in, but censoring people for having a certain opinion is not the way to generate honest discussion.

I don't make any distinction between blind trolling and blind fanboyism... two sides of the spectrum.

IP banning can be difficult; with dynamic IPs, banning one person might ban a totally different innocent person.  We do when applicable, when needed.

You can fake your IP number in 5 minutes so what the point of banning ip numbers ?
