Really.....just go play the game.
Hail Richard Garriott as the master of marketing, but ultimately in the end, this is just Auto Assault on foot.
The logos (one of the coolest aspects I thought), are so poorly utilized as to just be a "skill" in any other game.
The Cloning system so hyped, is really just a way to cut down on development (If I clone at level 10, and at level 20 decide I want to go back and try another path, I still have to play through all the same 10 levels of content again). At least with WoW and EQ2 and other games, each race has a different starting area, and unique looks and traits...it's a totally different game when you play WoW as a hunter vs. playing WoW as a Shaman. It's totally the same play when playing any of the classes in TR...
The character system is total NCSoft...you get basic customizations when building, and then all of that is wiped out as soon as you equip new gear anyways (you have to "paint" your gear to try and look different from other players...very cheesy..very auto assault).
Ultimately the "FPS" portion doesn't work, though I didn't expect it to...you face a foe and fire....based on your stance, and sometimes cover, damage will be different, but nothing that involves real tactics.
If the amount of money that was spent on Garriott's Round-the-world marketing campaign had been actually put into developing an interesting game, then I think it would have turned out much better. As it is, I'll give it 2 months of release time before folks are sick of it.
Disappointed.
PS I'm not a WoW fanboi, just realize that it is the most polished MMO out and good for comparison. I actually am without an MMO for now, since I'm bored with WoW, and can't stand "New Slate" (pfft)...all my hopes are pinned on Warhammer!

Maybe they're just trying to get the thing done and try to generate some sort of revenue..no matter how bad it is:

that has to be false info...no way they put 100mil into it
I think there is truth to the report as no retraction has been made (the report was on the 22nd of September).
NCsoft's Development Budget for this year was $110 million. So I think a $100 million spread over six years is possible.

As for where the money went?
75 employees and outsourcing to China for starters...
And that is why...
Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.
Until you spread your wings, you have no idea how far you can walk.
i heard the guys at MOGarmy.com (or whatever the site is) say that the game wasnt' a button masher (skill spamming) ...but yeah it is, you just spam logos until you run out of mana then mash buttons.... the mouse buttons
basically the whole game is kiting mobs (but i'm only level 12)
