Anything similar to FFXI out or possibly comming out?

I've been trying to find something similar to FFXI. I quit FFXI for a while and now my character is gone and I don't want to do it all over again so I'm looking for something new but with sort of the same feel. Anything out there?

You mean you want another game with 18 classes, subjobs, endless fun grinding, and makes you fall in love with it if you can survive the first 30 levels?

Nope. FFXI is one of a kind.

You will never see anything like FFXI again, trust me... I quit a year ago and have played basically EVERY p2p mmo... nothing even comes close. I have heard that Aion carries some similarities, but that was ages ago and it may have changed since it's still in closed beta.

Man, I really miss FFXI too.  I'd love to see any new MMO come out with such a dynamic party based system.  No game I've played since then have made me trully feel that I was "needed" in the party no matter what my role was.

Square cant manage a MMORPG, there are a few games in development though both by Square and other companies.

Ragnarok Online 2 has the job system for humans , but currently only has the very basic jobs.  It also a I dont know to explain not the materia system but some akin to it. I played a few hours of Open Beta but since the hurricane I havent been able to connect to thier servers.

If you're interested in returning to FFXI, you can take part in the "Return to Vana'diel" campaign. No matter how long characters have been deleted for, they can be restored during the time specified in the link.

The though is effectively dead. At 55 you cant get a party without going to the Treasure stuff which gives bonus xp , auto regen/ auto refresh. Further 20 to 50 is dead zone , my brother returned , using his old account , lvl 35 warrior / thief... 8 hours online no party. The next day he was told to lvl ninja cause .. well everyone is war/ninja ..

Whatever server your brother is on sucks then.

I recently leveled my Ranger from 1-75 with no problem what-so-ever.

Make your own partys, dont rely on getting an invite, and you're perfectly fine.

With the "Wings of the Goddess" expansion coming out in November which is shaping up nicely to be one of the best expansions FFXI has had.

I think it would be a great time to come back as everyone will be leveling the new jobs and even some of their lower jobs aswell which will make it much easier to get party's.

Also I think Square have done a great job managing FFXI with loads of updates, killing alot of the RMT and fixing alot (if not all) the bugs the game did have.

    -------------------------------
    MMOs that I'm waiting for:
    WAR
    Aion
    SGW
    TCoS
    Darkfall
    STO

I agree. They're pretty much the only game that's gotten rid of almost all the goldsellers

But you still have to buy a new copy of the game if you want to play again, correct? I remember I played once, then I quit for a while, and in order to play again, I had to buy another copy. That's the one thing that kept me from coming back... the fact that they deleted your account. So, with that "Return to Vana'diel" thing, can we reactivate our keys so that we can have our accounts back? (I wouldn't use my old character... I'd make a new one).

I have read an article recently that speculated Square-Enix has another mmorpg in the works but everything is still under wraps and probably won't be revealed until E3 2008.

I ve played on Bahumut , Phoenix , Carby , Ruham (spelling) and serveral others. Its dead , everywhere , I was stuck on 2-3 mission til almost 50.

There is no hope for Wings , FFXI if you read the last couple of interviews , is at its peak mem and content wise because of PS2 and XBox 360. You cant even add scrolls or new armor to the autotranslator without losing something.

Most AH are controlled by the farmers , shill bidding happens alot , and the GMs are heavily racist in punishment against euros and americans.
