WAR Dev Chat this coming Tuesday, how many plan on attending?

Just curious how many people plan on checking out the dev chat and if you guys have questions or you just going to stop by and observe.

Perhaps share the questions here that most of you are thinking to center our thoughts.

I'd like to know more about what's happening with Guild Halls for example.

These are just some of the topics in question that I've gathered from a few other posts and myself. I expect a couple to not be answered but it never hurts to ask.

    1. Guild Halls, and the future of housing.

    2. Crafting.

    3. Dueling.

    4. End game PVE vs PVP. We know its about WAR, but how much end game PVE content will there be?

    5. Tactics and respeccing.

    6. Starting locations and balancing of zones. How will the races zones be balanced so one race is not favored?

    7. How will balancing be handled to prevent one faction from overwhelming the other in terms of population? I.E. What will happen if a server has a 3 to 1 ratio between the two factions?

7a. How will balancing between the racial pairings be handled in spite of total alliance numbers?

    8. News on mounts and other forms of travel.

Some of these may have been answered in the past, but it doesn't hurt to get new answers or updates.

    Kings and Sons of God
Travel on their way from here
    Calming restless mobs
Easing all of their, all of their fear
    Strange times are here.

In addition to realm balance (Order vs. Destruction), I wonder if there are any plans to promote internal racial balance.

For example, say the realm balance was 1:1, great. However, what if Order was 6 Empire : 3 Dwarfs : 1 High Elves and Destruction was 5 Chaos : 2 Greenskins : 3 Dark Elves.

The problem is the initial racial pairings. High Elves will be outmatched 3:1 by Dark Elves, even though the overall realm balance is equal. Now, of course your allies can help out your battlefront, but how many players are going to try and even the odds like that?

I really doubt there would be motivation for internal racial balance, but I would not mind hearing confirmation either way.

Oh, and I am not going to the dev chat. I get the feeling it will be disappointing (what are the odds that monumental information will be released in a rinky-dink MMORPG.com dev chat?) and most of it will be "cannot comment," "maybe," "might happen in an expansion," and "wait and see." The rest will be confirmation of things we already know, with some hype tossed in.

Of course, a few nuggets may slip out, so I will skim the transcript when it is done - all of the information, 1/10 the time.

Sadly I think you will be right Sornin, but I'm hoping we will get those few "nuggets".

I hope there will be no housing. Imo it is pointless and not fun.

Just dislike this idea. Making Auction and enough bank space solves useless housing systems.

I am hoping to attend although I'm honestly not expecting to get my questions answered much. The following are things I have been wondering about:

    1. Quest reward and item drops per area. Say for example 80% of my guild want to play Empire and we decide the 'majority' of our leveling as a group will be there. If I want to play a Dwarf engineer I know its relatively easy to travel to the empire lands and receive training there but will I still have access to good equipment rewards and drops there or will I find the best of the items are Human Only or worse Witch Hunter rifles etc? We all know to be truely effective in PvP you must get the best available to you, I would imagine this is even more true in immense RvR battles. If I am forced to travel back to the Dwarf lands to get UBERGUNEXTREME Purple Rifle of Orc Slaying this would effectively spilt my time away from where I want to be which is with my friends having fun. I know we dont have to min/max to have fun but then again how many dont want the best shiny available for their character?

    2. Is the game being optimised to make use of Dual or Quad core processing? I would guess not overly but I wil be getting a new PC as open beta hits and proper information on the subject could well change what I buy.

    3. Once the game is live how are they planning to handle patchs? The simple old Everquest I connect and it downloads from their own servers patch or the nasty WoW lets use torrents and all sorts of other scrooge like principles.

    4. Do the dev's in general aim to balance the class for PvP or PvE or both. I'm a firm beleiver its almost impossible to do for both, look at WoW as a case in point, from one month to the next class power and playability went up and down quicker than a yo-yo. It would be far more refreshing to see a bit of honesty such as a group of dev's saying we are balancing for PvP if this effects your PvE ability then tough or the other way round, PvE over PvP. Either way is fine so long as they stick to it we all know where we stand.

    5. This one I really suspect they wont answer. Is the game being aimed/written for Dirx9 or Dirx10, which is the version they have handled first and which is the after thought? Have they even considered opening the idea of Dirx10.1? Again like question 2 this really could change what system I buy before the game hits the shelves. Like they are going to answer that .

    1. Im fairly certain Guild halls is in for release.

    2. Crafting has hardly been touched to my knowledge.

4 and 5. Can you show me a dev post or somewhere they said it? For 5 especially.

    8. Thank you Capt Obvious  It never hurts to ask though. Like I said this stuff is basic topics or questions I pulled from other posts.

For your first question I am 90% certain they said that when you travel to other races zones you will have content suited for your race/class.

I'll see if I can find it.

Most of the questions I have, Impyreal already has covered.

I do disagree with Valewraith though, I am hoping the best weapons for a race are racial area specific.

Not to rain on someones parade, but just for balancing purposes, it would probably be much better to have items for a specific race only in their area. If you could get the best weapons for your race/class anywhere in the game, there would be NO REASON AT ALL FOR ANYONE TO STAY IN THEIR RACIAL AREA.

WOW DO WE NEED CAPS TO DISCUSS SOMETHING? But in answer to your point that is exactly what I would like to see, no reason to be item locked for want of a better term to one area. It has been repeatedly said War is aimed back to people having fun, a false blocking is no different in general princple to a stealth nerf. It is no game breaker by any means but an unecessary annoyance no the less.

I can see a viable comprimise though, make items that drop while leveling not racial/class specific. Make the end game stuff contain some, it even fits with the lore. The Dark Elf helping Chaos defeat a Empire major NPC doesnt expect to be rewarded materialisticaly, he or she is there as an ambassador for their race. This would allow freedome while leveling but would meet the point I think you were trying to make.

I've got that info by watching some interviews with Devs. And I clearly remember about pve/pvp focus question someone asked.

About tarctics I heard in 2 different interviews. One guy said you don't even need to respec them, just pick up and load what you like. And another said you need to respec only Action abilitys, their upgrades.

The game is still in beta, things may change.

Go away troll, he used caps on one sentance to emphasize his point.

    Back on topic...

Imperyial did cover a good amount of the questions I was going to ask...does anyone know at what TIME they will be here in chat?

That really isnt nice. Simply because this is the first topic I have wanted to post in doesnt mean I am not allowed opinions on a topic, nor did I start shouting. Personally I think its a perfetly valid point out flow between the races and battlegrounds, I see the other side of the arguement which is why I posted something that would meet both needs. Either way colour me disappointed a new poster cant have an opinion with being shouted at or emphasised to if thats what its now called without being called a troll.

Well just for instance, for the tactics issue what I was going to ask is after you advance through the game and you have all your tactics chosen, will there be an ability to respec and choose different tactics or are you stuck with those forever.

My guess is there will be respecs, maybe sort of similar to the stones(item drops) in daoc. I just want to hear confirmation if possible.

EDIT: The chat is on OCT 09, 7pm EST

Worry not, man. You're right, and I might add that caps are idiotic to emphasize things when we have the option of bold, underlined, and italic font editing. We have the Faboulous Internet to blame for such things, of course, but oh well. The idiot who called you a troll needs to learn to write outside of an online medium.

Anyway, I hope we can get some good info from the devs. I want to attend but don't know for sure due to work and stuff, but hopefully I'll be there.

Was it? What was the answer?

As far as I know, EA Mythic has not commented on gross population imbalances and how they are dealt with, exactly. Of course we all know that after sacking a city one eventually loses control, but this issue is actually about constant sacking.

So, if Order has 10,000 players and Destruction has 2,000, what will stop Order from winning the battle to the capital city every time? Instancing battles that earn victory points can only do so much, especially since points are also accrued in non-instanced content. So, even if each instances battle is even, in the persistent content Order should clean up with the 5:1 ratio.

This is all speculation at this point in time ya know...I think we should wait before we assume there is going to be 5:1 ratio's for either side.  And to be quite frank , I doubt the "imbalance ratio will rise above 3:1.

    You misunderstand.

I never claimed population imbalances would get that bad, it was merely an example. Any numbers could work, I did not assume anything.

I asked this question because the previous poster, whom I quoted for easy reference, stated there was an answer. I have followed this game for a very long time and never have heard mention of mechanisms in place that would mitigate the effect of one side greatly outnumbering the other, and so I asked for clarification because such an answer interests me.

This has been answered a number of times.

I believe it is true that EA Mythic has not said specifically what measures will be employed to rectify the imbalances between realms.  However, they have said they have game mechanics in place to cope with this.

What those game mechanics might be, I do not know, but I tend to trust the devs to have thought about this and come up with something.

Perhaps this question will be answered better in the Dev Chat.

I've never been to something like this before, how many questions do you think each person will get to ask? I would guess one but what do you guys think?
