Is there a trial yet?

I only played this game late in closed beta, but i did read alot about the disasterous launch. Some people say its gotten better, not going to blow any$$ on  a game with a bad rep, so my question, is there a free trial yet?

There is a Trial Island just around the corner that should release with game update #3 (which is slated for the end of this year). I too left Vanguard in frustration shortly after launch solely due to the technical issues that have been harped on again and again on every forum across the internet. I was angry at how Sigil mislead their fans by releasing such an unfinished product. I thought I'd never give them a second chance. Since SOE took the reigns from the incompetent higher-ups at Sigil, I've been keeping an eye on VG news and its player community, and it appears that there is some promising stuff going on and the game may finally be approaching its potential. I'm hoping VG can pull an EQ2 caliber turn-around and get back on its feet in the next year.

Despite my initial refusals to give the game a second chance, I'm definitely going to try it once the Trial Island is released. That vast, seamless world is one of the promises Sigil DID meet, and that's appealing enough to get me back if they truly have improved gameplay and turned the technical nightmare into a playable, navigatable, fun experience.

Sigil didnt release the game in unfinished state just because they wanted to. They had two choices either they close the studio and go home or release it and fix it while people pay for it. They came to this decision because they ran out of funds.

I restrospect they should have just closed the studio.  Would have saved them and many other people time, money and drama.
