It's not that Fury has dropped the ball; it's more like didn't even touch and missed the ball completely.
My first impression was that it was kinda ok till the flakey parts reared their head. Mainly it got old really fast. Beyond that I agree with a lot of what the OP wrote. I just don't think the player base for this type of game is large enough to sustain itself for an extended amount of time. I honestly believe that the supposed PvP crowd in any given MMO play both sides. Are drawn to a particular game because it has the options to play both sides. I mean what do you do in your down time..sneak over to some pve stuff.
That's why I think Guild Wars is huge. Not just because it's buy then F2p. Maybe Fury is trying to tap into the pvp crowd from a game like GW's, but lose sight of the fact that many more do both than one or the other.
I however can't base this on any real numbers...just in talk, theory so to speak,so I don't want it to be seen as me presuming this to be absolute.

This I find amusing. Please do show us testimonials from NORMAL players on how great this game is.
I don't care for "e-sports" players testimonials because you shove enough swag down their throats they'll tell you Fury cures cancer and it saves seals from being clubbed (twice).
You may remember these "e-sports" players easily by the fact that most are attention whores, pure and simple. I can't remember the last guy I smashed before I had to log out..or any of the names for that matter.
You guys still don't get it. Tourney's with 30 some odd people is not fun, nor are ladders. They mean nothing after a few weeks.
I am a hardcore pvp type of a guy. I play mmo's for pvp and killing. Nothing more or less. Same with FPS. So this game technically by my mediocre tastes should be #1 right?
It's not.
It's a good and I use the word good very liberally time killer for the first few weeks and then BAM...it's empty.
There is no depth, no logic for fighting. None. 0 motivation.
Players in General want to fight about something whether it's land or faction beliefs,etc . Fury just tosses you to the fray "hey you don't like this guy because he's the blue team!" while factionalized yes...next game... "Hey look now he's on the Red team! I like him".

I'll play it off and on as it is "f2p" (though that is almost another subject on it's own) but I can tell you the biggest issues of this game.
#1. Devs you guys take critical speaking of your game too hard and personal. It's the players right to complain , rant, moan, or make love to your game. Thats what happens when you sell an object. Some of us may not be able to make a better game but we can use our purchasing power to address key concerns about a game. Many of us feel burnt by the high price tag for what seems to be a very empty game.
#2. Christ sakes come up with something that motivates players to ram crap through eachothers sculls. Rankings are all good but really an epeen can only grow so far with ladder matches etc. And with all the premades about and "e-sports" guys...Damn your player base is literally canabilizing it self.
Hell do a mini world map control point something or other. You guys have potential here. Otherwise I'd just write "fury sux lolz".
#3. Hire new CSR's , the ones I have seen (and to be honest I don't care if you optimize your customer care center) are horrible. Three out of four have been literally equal to RoXo-kid style insults "Stupid nub log off" is not what a CSR should say to ANYONE. These guys are probally contracted or sub contracted by you all but I seriously suggest you rid yourself of that group because your customers are 1st are they not? Unless of course you want a dwindling insulted population.
#5. Subscriptions to make a guild , once again very foolish.
#6. Your buisness model disturbs me, and to be honest I do not care if a person gets a free roll on loot,etc,etc I do care about #4-----#5 being part of that plan. You decapitate yourselves with this one. People see through the nickle and dime and obviously have shown how they feel.
I'm done with the number leads, I am saying here that this game has alot of potentiel , it can be fun when you aren't being called a "Stupid nub" by a CSR, it can be fun when you find enough people that aren't 100% zerg festing premades.
Yet this game has a VERY low population. So surely you must be aware something is terribly critical with your build right now.
I use the word critical because if I had been an investor to this company/game I'd be about freaking out by now.
Oregon Trail outsold you. There is a problem and take critical thoughts as a way of improving your game. You will get those who just want to insult and those of us who would like to see this game shine.
I found it sad that every friend of mine who was with me when I went to get fury flinched, I had not played it in beta and never EVER take anyones word for a game. I found this game has much potential and many flaws (what game doesn't) .
Even despite the fact the game frustrates me currently I still log in here and there and am finding myself though skills improved still at a loss for the premade destroyer groups.
No matter how good you are in this game two people working in perfect sync just destroy.
At the end of the day I'd rather play Rakion currently. Thats just sad.

What you don't want is some negative $$$$ posting crap on official forums because they didn't get what they wanted or didn't get it fast enough. And lets face it, we all probably know someone on some forum thats like this.

I posted the same thing on the official forums as here, I got a warning from Alex I believe was his name about my attitude. I felt my attitude was fine and decided I no longer wanted to be a part of this community. I got myself banned, I told Alex to ban me. So now thats out of the way.
This post was about as cordial as I could get with my criticism's even after being irked by the moderators on the official forum. I was even temp-banned on THESE forums for a couple days or so for harmless comments such as this. I am not disagreeing with the mods here they have there reasons and I won't go into it, in case that is against the rules as well.
One thing I ask is if you are going to spell your names with 5's instead of S's you could at least spell it correctly, you know? I think people like A55A5IN(sic) cause more harm than good, people dislike your fanboyish attitude, it causes people to want to make this game fail so they see people like you disappear into the mist. That is what brings people so much joy about this game failing. I don't like seeing a developer go down, but to be honest, who cares? Do they pay my bills? Do they help me if I need money or am out of a job? No. They don't. I have no vested interest either way, until someone like you comes along with your seemingly adolescent rants about someone criticizing there game and all of a sudden it brings a smile to my face when I hear that they had to lay off a bunch of people and that the game has truly failed on an epic level.
As far as Aruytobo's (sp?) post, he nailed it and I think everything he said should be seriously combed through like it was a dead sea scroll if Auran has any chance at all. Most of the people that criticize this game on these forums have had the maturity not to just say OMG THIS SUX. I believe a lot of the guys that played and then criticize the game here actually wanted it to do well. They were in some way jaded by their experience (as I was) and should be commended for their opinions whether you agree or not.
My OPINION is that this game shouldn't even be on MMORPG.com other than to sorta "giggle at the retarded kid".
