How do I find computer specs?

ok...forgive me first for being a bit of a loser, but I've got a question.  How do I find the specs for my comp? I can find the basic AMD athlon xp, 1.79 ghz and my grandma's measley 96 mb of ram....but how do i find what type of graphics card, sound card and the whole bit-n-knuddle? Was thinking about upgrading my own computer (exact copy of my grandma's... but with about 600 mb of ram, my first upgrade ^_^)  so...ayone help me in this area? Thanks much.

Exactly how depends on what version of Windows you are running (if at all)...

But basically you need to go into the Control Panel then the System icon, then get into the Hardware Manager, and you can see what video driver is loaded, what sound driver is loaded, etc... All of your hardware drivers will be listed there.

You can go here http://belarc.com/free_download.html and DL the advisor. It'll tell bout every spec you wanna know. It's safe, don't worry. I use it.

You can also go here for info on RAM.  http://www.crucial.com/kb/

you have way to little RAM to be running XP, 256 MB is recommended for it to run smoothly.  The gfx card will not run very many high end games today, if any at all.   frankly I think it is a piece of junk.  You might want to be doing some upgrading soon!  add @ least 512 MB of RAM and get a decent vid card and your system will be ok, however, make sure you have an AGP slot, I think that the S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR is intgrated, I'm not sure, and usually when PCs are pre-made with intgrated gfx, that means they do not have an AGP slot on the motherboard

Well, right now I'm just surfing the market...willing to spend anything up to about 1500$, but getting to know facts before I go gun-ho and just buy whatever hehe. Fort he past few years, I've just bought the cheapest thing I could find that had a decent amount of room to putz with hehe.  I've heard of Nvidia, a friend was trying to sell it to me...he bought it and never used it. So, ya heh ^_^. Thanks for the sites.

Basically, what I want to upgrade to is something that has a lot of room to upgrade in the future. With all this info gathering, I'm hoping to find a good base unit to upgrade from and continue to do so from there. ^_^

and as to the specs on this comp....no games currently installed ^_^. my comp (this one being my grandmas) has some ram upgrades, i believe it was 615 mb or so ^_^
