I bought the game a while back, my free month is up and I never really gave the game a try. How is the end game aspect of the game? Is there any PvP in it yet? Etc.?

There isn't much endgame. Overall it's pretty cool if you find a cool guild to run with, but without one it would be dull. There is a type of PvP called PvMP(player versus monster player) but it seems like Turbine is having a bit of trouble balancing this and making it fun for both sides, on top of the constant zerg from either side. There is currently one moderatly hard raid, but once you know what to do it's pretty much cake provided you have the right people. At the end of this month another patch will be released including a new 12 man raid, and player housing, which I have tried on Roheryn(the public test server) and it is all pretty good stuff. There's little to no diversity in builds because each class is only good at one thing, no matter what stats you build up or gear you have. A Minstrel will always be a healer, a Guardian will always be a tank, a Lore-Master will always be crowd control, along with the fact that there seems to be only one good set of gear per class at this point.
Thanks for the info and could you describe PvMP what is it?
What you're doing is pointless and useless. Grab the trial and try the game. There is simply no way of deciding whether you'll like it or not, if you don't play it.
The game is constantly being expanded and developed. By the time you'd reach the level cap, there will be at least 1 more expansion released (but could be even more if you're not playing 24/7.
Even at high levels, there is plenty to do. For descriptions on aspects like PVMP, better check the official forums!

PVMP mean players vs monster players. It takes place in a specific zone only, ettenmore, the PVMP zone.
Any normal player lvl 40 (called freeps) or above can go to this zone with a lot of quests and other things to do, resources to harvest. Any player lvl 10 (I think) or above can also create a monster player which is automatically lvl 50. These Monster players (called creeps) can attack any freeps there, or do the creep specific quests. There are a lot of keeps which can be attacked and held by either side. Basically its a zerg. Creeps zerg and kill the main boss of a keep, the keep becomes creep owned with creep NPCs and a creep boss defending it. Freeps can do the same.
How good is it? Before the bk10 patch, freeps enjoy some advantage, creeps were grumbling. After the patch its reversed. Unlike DAoC, you can have both creep and freep characters in the same server, so some PVP fanatics will log on creeps, take all the map, log back to freep take all the map, and rinse. Not funny. There are also cheaters, you play a freep and let my creep kill you repeatedly. Then I log on my freep for your creep to gang. For those with 2 accounts, he can just do it himself.
The PVE part of the game is very smooth and polished. Very nice for casual players, solo friendly, with many solo quests, and a fair share of group quests (notably key steps in the epic storyline, a very involving story line up to bk8). Its fun till you hit the lvl cap of 50, then I found nothing to do basically.
The community is very nice, really very nice. Unlike WoW, there is no elitist attitude, as lvl 50 is easily attainable and the top gears means very little extra perk. The best geared 50s and the average 50s are not miles away in power. All classes are useful, no class is completely gimped, usual whins of course from every class board.
As Donnie pointed out grab the free trial and decide for yourself, liking or disliking is a subjective decision that's why there are so many games to choose from, flavors of ice cream and types of music.
do that but give it week. I played beta as an elf ranger and was a little disappointed.
I came back to it after beta after reading the reviews. I loved it. I then played a character to level 10 and by that time had talked my old guild to give it a try (we are small only 10 people) and this was the first time we all agreed on a game and we all love it.
If you are a fan of the books then you will see places that are created almost word for word.
dont listen to the trolls i dont know whats wrong with them.
join a pick up group to find the real fun, it was always easy for me before my guild showed up . there are a lot of different classes that support each other. this is also one game where im glad evey class is there and when they are not other classes help make up for the one missing.
i even like the crafting and i have never liked it in any of the half dozen mmorpgs i have played
They lied about not balancing the game for PVP (and still are lying) and are making hunter the most lame class in the game.
If you want to play a lore, go for it. If any job is overpowered, it is lore, but apparently the devs must play that class because they continually buff and favor lores while doing whatever they can to make hunter a miserable class (the only one that will require grouping).
Also, incredibly boring after 50 and you do the few raids they have. Monster play is a disorganized mess.
The reason I am here is I am looking for a new game.
I think the game is awesome personally. The rather violent negativity it's attracted here has me a bit puzzled. I'd say it's pretty similar to EQ II and WoW in overall design. Of course WoW was the website whipping boy for a good long while when it first came out, maybe hardcore gamers are frightened by high profile successful games designed for the mainstream. Or, maybe the CEO of Turbine went on a shooting rampage in some midwestern town and it hasn't been picked up by the national news yet.
In any case, by all means try it and see for yourself.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

I am starting to think (and I posted this in another thread as well)...maybe they are being watched so much due to their last two sucky games...AC2 and DDO...and now people are waiting for the hat to drop on this one as well..
Sorry but after seeing your comment about AC2 I had to respond.
AC2 has got to be the best mmo I have ever played and I'f they brought it back I would drop all these other lame games I play now in a heartbeat. Ever since they stopped AC2 i have never been able to play any MMO for more than 2 months before switching games. I am still depressed about it. BRING BACK AC2!!!!
I loved this game. I played all summer and had a great Kinship to run with. Had to go back to work after the summer and had very little time for play. I highly recommend the game if you enjoy LotR then you will enjoy the story with the game.
It all depends on the Kinship you run with. The graphics are amazing and the cities are are easily moved thru unlike some MMOs.
