Will I enjoy this game (used to newer mmos)

So I have been playing Final Fantasy 11 since the USA PC release back in Ovtober 2003, I also started playing World of warcraft. I once tried out EQ2 and loved it, so now I am looking to try other games and Asherons call has always interested me. Will I enjoy it? I am really used to looking at up to date graphics and game mechanics though I do know that a game does not have to look good for me to enjoy it. So I have a couple questions, Is there really any story in this game (exmaples FFXI, EQ2), can you solo or do you rely on groups to help you level?

The story and lore in this game is some of the best in any MMO, in my opinion.  The monthly free updates are awesome and continue to add to the story and world.

The good:  Amazing PvP - If you like PvP, start on the Darktide server.  It is the only all-PvP server, and it is a -very- harsh world but well worth it in the long run.

The story.  Again, amazing lore in the game.  They have big story arcs that span over months and months of time, followed by huge events.

The customization: Since AC is a skill-based game, there are no classes.  You spend skill points on purchasing skills, and then spend the XP you earn in those skills.  You spend XP in attributes as well, which affect your skills in addition to the XP you spent on them.  Favorite system out of any game I've played.

The bad: It's a very old game, and on the normal servers you will be hard pressed to find people if you don't play in prime time.  I was a night owl, and wouldn't see anyone.  In the day/evening, there are still several dedicated guilds of players who continue to play as if nothing even happened to the game.  The most populated server is Darktide, which is another reason I suggest starting there (but you will be killed, and this game does have looting in PvP)

I doubt you would like it. The graphics are dated (though I don't mind) and it doesn't hold your hand like WoW. It's a very open world with little guidance at times. I find the PvP way over rated. For me, the main draws are the ability to solo, loot system, and quests.

    Hallo LepeeHoppe,

Will you like the game? Good question and in fact impossible to answer .....

As other posters wrote and you probably know, AC's  graphics are not of modern standards, but i.m.o. more then acceptable. And you get used to it.

The content of AC is enormous. Two major upgrades in the last 5 years and every month new content. Most elements are well balanced, but this you may expect after all this time.

The game play is build around monarchies. This means you can swear into a clan. This group of players is very important to give you a helping hand and advize, because not all is handed out in game and you can get loose track of what to do next. Solo play is very well possible, but much harder. Most players have fun by doing quests or hunts together. In fact the freedom of play you have in AC is great.

AC knows many story lines. Always fun to follow them and the current ones stretch over months (monthly patches). When a story finish, it is in most cases possible to play or repeat them later. Although the live events involved are 1 time only.

So yes if you don't mind the graphics and judge AC on its content, it can be a blast. If you like more info please feel free to visit our website at crimsonknights-sc.com

Hope to see you in game !!!!!!

    Lancelore,
