Oh my. I am amazed on how people can spend so much energy on "how many people play a game"? Shouldn't your time be used in a more productive way? Like explaining why you like or dislike the game? Again, who cares how many people like the game? If you like it, then play it! If not, then dump it. The big question is not "how many play LoTRO?" but, "Do I like playing LoTRO?" And then share those thoughts with us.
Sorry to ruin your ego, but I never said you're the only one arguing against subscriber numbers. Still it is a totally pointless issue (and now, again pls try to understand what you are reading): AS LONG AS the game is:
1 - stable 2 - developed as intended 3 - server pops are healthy 4 - no merges/etc are happening. I am not saying you cannot or should not argue about subscriber numbers, I am saying that it is a 100% irrelevant thing AS LONG AS these points are valid. Go ahead and spend years discussing them, but be prepared for: 1 - criticism 2 - people (who also don't care about them) becoming sick and tired of it 3 - other opinions than yours, Are they first set of my points valid? Of course they are. So? Who the hell cares about subscriber numbers? Correct - people with an agenda.... DB
Yet you make it sound like I am there, forcing your eyes to read all my posts..I am not...and there is a block button there as well...use it, then you do not need to read my posts, and worry about how to counter it...simple.!
As to the numbers, you state it is irrelevant...then why does the Boston Globe need to discuss it, why do so many blogs, game review sites, and well...here...need to discuss it if it is irrelevant..but, your constant point makes it look like I am the only one who thinks it is relevant...and you could not be further from the truth...
Google : 1 - 10 of about 28,700 for subscribers lotro
Google: 1 - 10 of about 542,000 for "Subscriptions EQ2"
1 - 10 of about 52,500 for "Subscribers EQ2"
They also look relevent to me but you dont see me as an ex EQ2 player and with no further interest in the game at all on the EQ2 boards getting satisfaction of finding some mythical Subscription number that we dont really know and even if we did would serve no end or agenda.
LOTRO subscriptions are more than likely higher than "most" of the competing games in its class at the moment (EQ2 and Vanguard) included, so as a LOTRO player im not going to get overly worked up over these discussions anyway. In my opinion and the opinions of my forty strong and growing kinship the game is fantastic, i like its polished finish and deep story and great performance over many other choices available to me as a gamer.
However some do not. Difference is you dont see LOTRO players in the EQ2 or Vanguard boards on this forum beating down on a singular point until it becomes a tad monotonous. So for anybody reading this whom is thinking of trying out LOTRO what does that tell you about the LOTRO community over others.....
Openedge, you need to move over at the keyboard buddy because matraque wants to have a bash at typing something....
