I am really confused whether or not CoH is good or bad. PLZ. Someone give straight reasons why this game is worth playing. And do not mention CoV because it will be a while to it gets here to play. I want to know this because i really want to know if it's worth playing.

It is a waste of money. The game gets really old quick. I've played numerous MMO's and CoH is the one that I've played the least.
CoH is a fantastic game with a very unique outlook on MMO gaming, unforunately I found the games over simplified approach made the game very shallow ... took me about 1 month to get bored.
COH plays the best, is the most fun, and has the most people.
But is only fun for a month of hardcore play, mabye less. I got to level 18 the first week COH was out.. then I was like "what now?" I could spend hours and hours leveling to just get a few more powers, and THATS IT... the game needs *good* quests, pvp, items, crafting, loot, and a actual skill system to keep players playing.
All coh has going for it is fun combat, and a big player base (which may or may not last).

It's like a single player game, with a massively multiplayer part duct taped on.
It's a fun, but shallow game. All there really is to do is run missions which are more or less about beating up bad guys, or just wander around a zone, and beat up bad guys. There's no real loot, aside from inspirations, which just give you a quick boost to accuracy, or heal you, add to your damage for 30 secs, etc. I can't find my bloody manual, and I don't remember what the other items are called, but they go into slots in your powers, boosting range, speed, damage, etc. There's no crafting or anything aside from fairly repetitious combat. All in all, it will keep you entertained for a month, or two, depending on your tolerance for such things.
The costume creation for your character offers more fun, I feel, than does the game itself.

How could they be so sweet... sweet?
Well I can tell you my opinion...which is always the BEST opinion
Well first off, CoH customization tool is not all THAT. Of course it is better then say games like lineage 2 clone wars and FFAXI, but the tool is still very limited. There is a plethora of colors to choose from but every catigory of design is so small. For helmets, there are only like 3 styles and they all suck. All the design patterns on them are lame as well. For hats, you have a few bad choices as well. Even the mask selection is poor. The reason you think everyone looks different is because everyone has different color schemes. Personaly, I was expecting much more from such a hyped custom tool.
In the game play department, I would say its almost like playing a 3D street fighter..but slower and you miss a lot. You only get a few skills and the list you choose from is very small. You get a new skill every 2 lvls and the skills seem like they all copy themselves no matter what type you choose. The secondary skills have some diversity but they arent that cool. When you start a battle you click on buttons with the skills name and then wait for them to charge up. It gets very boring.. the game does not resemble arcade action in any way. Some people seem to think so. THEY ARE CRAZY.
The missions you recieve are all the same. Kill all the mobs and boss/ kill alll the mobs and save hostages/ kill 20 gang members on the street. They get so boring after a week of playing. They get a little different as for looks go later on but thats all that changes. New textires and more mobs.
The game is fun for a week but once you reach the lvl 20's area everything seems the same old same old. Everyone flies, and you do the same old missions you did at lvl 2.
I don't recommend this game unless you are very very very bored. It gas no long term grasp so have fun paying for something you wont be playing long

I think that COH look's pretty good i think that it would be a fun mmorpg i plan to get it one day
Which wouldnt be too bad if the combat engine didnt blow and there was even the least bit of strategy invloved in a battle.
CoH is a wonderful game in small chunks. I can see how the power gamers or anyone who plays a game for more than 3 hours a day could get bored with it quick. If you fall in that catagory it'd be best to pass, or maybe it'll be just what you need til EQ2 comes out hehe
With that said, I can honestly say that it's the only MMORPG I've played that was actually fun in short doses. If you're a busy person and you don't have alot of time to play games, but want to play one where you can develop your character, then it's a great game. I don't have to wait around for 20 minutes to get a group together, I just throw up my Team Seek flag and shout that I'm looking for a group and within 3 minutes I have a party. I can go and run missions for 40 minutes before I head off to work and actually feel like I got something accomplished.
If you have kids, then it's a very friendly game. I have friends who are always having to go afk to tend to the kids. They go afk in the middle of the zone, they don't have to find a safe spot before they have to go afk. If you can fly you can just get up in the sky and go afk. It's real easy to jump in and out of the game if distractions come up.
If you like creating characters, it's fun to mess around with the character cusomization. I'll agree that it isn't all THAT as someone previously stated, but it's definitely hands down the best ever seen in a MMORPG. It really is quite wild. I've spent man many hours just creating new looks for my characters. Granted I wish there were more powers to choose from in the beginning, but I'm sure they'll fix that with a few expansions.
Basically it all boils down to what kind of player are you? If you're a power gamer, look elsewhere, if you're more casual, then maybe check it out. If you like superheroes AND a casual gamer, definitely check it out. It's just fun to run through the city with your own superhero and take on 7 thugs at the same time, by yourself! That's one thing they need to do more in MMORPGs, make you actually feel like the hero. I'm sick of all these games where you see a single goblin and have to worry if you can take him. How heroic does that sound? You should be able to tell stories about the time you took on 5 bloodthirsty orcs at the same time and whooped em all and barely escaped with your life ^_^
That's what I can say on CoH. Good game, gets old if you play nonstop, stays fun if you have some friends and play in 1 or 2 hour bursts. And can stay fresh when you decide you wanna try making another superhero, and there are TONS of possibilities.
I'm not a power gamer, but i play as many hours as one(5 chars over lvl 20, 14 over lvl 16). I love this game, and it will last me for a few more months. It's nothing for the long run, but it will last me a good 4-6 months, and thats worht the money in my opinion.
Just try many chars, if you just make 1 blaster and blast stuff until your 40, you will get bored, not meet near as many people, and quit most likely. Alot of older people play this so the community is pretty nice.
Play this game, then download the free trial for DaoC and start a new char there, its like going from a ferrari to a bigwheel(with no wheels). And thats from a DaoC fan. That being said, im still waiting for a game to 'move in' to for the long haul
You can't compare COH to DAoC. I still enjoy daoc more then COH and I played coh from beta till a month after release.
In daoc I can always do some RvR, go on a raid, build a house, find some cool loot, or go on a quest.
In COH I can, get a mission, kill gangs, or... oh wait thats all you can do in COH.

Having played CoH beta for about 20 minutes I feel I can say without a doubt CoH is over hyped. People rave about the combat system but from what I saw it was the same as every other game, click the skill icon and it attacks? Woo, what's new? I must have missed the innovation. Other than that I didn't really notice anything else. It didn't wow me in 20 minutes as I expected it to by all the super reviews. So it's a failure.
It takes 25 minutes for the s00per sekrit content to unlock. Shoulda waited, Bub
I got a scrapper to lvl 4, a blaster to 5, a controller to 4, and my first choice, an empathy defender to 8. I could never find a group with the defender, and soloing was a pain so I never bothered to even finish out the free month.
They are going to have to start pumping out content patches pretty soon as the current content isn't going to hold the players til next year when CoV comes out, assuming it isn't pushed back.
As cliche as it's becoming for MMOs, it's got a lot of potential, but it fails to fulfill it. Maybe if they licensed Marvel/DC/Image characters, and put them in the game as raid style bosses. Or better yet SLG comics. I'd pay money to see JTHM waltzing around slaughtering the populace, Milk and Cheese on a corner, berating passersby, etc.

Like a lot of other players I found the game too short-lived and shallow. My free month ended last week but I actually uninstalled it and stopped playing a week or two ago. The game is good fun in short doses, but I was expecting a proper MMORPG and this just didnt tick any of the boxes for me. If you're looking for a fun multiplayer arcade game then you will like it, make no mistake. It's a beat-em-up, platformer style game, not a content-filled MMORPG.
perhaps if they add some proper content and some kind of crafting and just well, make it more enjoyable I may reactivate my account at a later date, but for teh time being i've gone back to DAoC
