Um if you have the games... just install them and create an account, Then just log on and play...

  • bohhbohh Member Posts: 5

Yes you can play with them. Though I think what you really mean is do you have enough expansion packs to play with people in the world or do you need more?

I would think you're ok. With what expansions you have, but that's just my opinion.

You can definitally use the ones you have. You don't have to buy them in any specific order.

With having a system like this, with expansions coming out all the time, etc, the company is shooting themself in the foot. They are making it almost impossible to get new customers. If I wanted to start playing right now, there is no way I would want to have to purchase 7 expansions and the original game. Even if 5 of them are in a "Gold" pack for $40, there are still two more I need to purchase at $30 a pop.

    No thanks...

I hear ya...but I think they are trying to address this.

RIght now you can buy "EQ Evolutions" which had the original and first 5 games for $19.99 and 2 expansions it doesn't include can be bought online for like $20each(I believe).

The other thing is that you don't need all the expansions and some are not really worth it till really high levels. So for $19 you get most of what you would want for quite some time and the others will probably drop in price by the time you would want them.

The last option I heard they were working on is all the expansions out now and a 1 year subscription for $100 I think. That is quite a savings and cheaper then you can even get the subscriptions bulk rate for existing players.

I think they are tring to get people into it still and for $20 to get in with most of the expansions and actually the ones you would use early on isn't a bad deal to me.

I guess that's true. Have to concede that to ya.

At this point in time, they are pretty much stuck with their current player base anyway. Not much of anything they can do about it. And the more they try to lower the costs, or make free, the expansions, the more they are going to anger their current players who did purchase these things at full price...

I'm surprised you guys dont know this...

"For new players, or those who don't want to buy a bunch of expansions, Sony plans to release two new packages containing several expansions. EverQuest: Platinum will have all of the expansions up to the current release, Gates of Discord, in one box for $29.99.

For the new player just wanting to try it out, there will be EverQuest: Chronicles, a $9.99 game with the old world, The Ruins of Kunark, The Shadows of Luclin and The Legacy of Ykesha."
