Simple pilot problem

fadtefadte Member Posts: 77

I started to pilot as a rebel a few days ago i didn't get the starter ship on tansarii so i had to use the z-95 that they give you but there is a common flaw in it the points that is fires from are wide enough apart that i have actually continously fired for a minute at a tie fighter and not hit him the only problem is that there arnt any other ships i can use right now, its a bad way to start the pilot missions.

i come in paece untill i shoot lol i do come in peace

Ehm, I know it is theoretically possible to do what you just described because of the fairly small hitting rectangle of a TIE. But you have to be really precise in your targetting to do that. Meaning you would be able to hit it easily just by adjusting your aiming a little ;)

I suspect you are aiming at your target instead of in front of it in its flightpath. It shouldnt be much of a problem to destroy those TIE's in your missions as most of the lights in the early tiers dont even have shields. If you aim at your target with your crosshair, your target has moved from that point at the moment your shots arrive. Ive mastered Rebel pilot and really liked my heavy mass Z-95. I used this ship untill I got my advanced x-wing deed.

I’m sure this is going to make me look like a HUDGE geek, but.  That’s how it works.  TIE fighters don’t have shields or good armor because they are designed to have a small surface area.  And as we all know, if something is small it’s harder to hit.  You will have this issue even in the X-Wing.  Now the Y and B-wings have center mounted guns but are much slower, also by the time you get to these ships the TIEs you will be fighting will have shields.  I know some of the neutral ships also have center mounted guns.

I’ve always found having a better recharge vs damage in my weapons to be better.  The more you shoot the better chance of hitting.  Also make sure your rotating while you’re shooting, the TIEs are.

I don't know how to say this but im not aiming at the tie i was hitting him every once in a while. and i am 6 boxes away  from master imp pilot. I easily took out the ties after i shot a little to the left or right of them so one shot would hit him.

There wasn't anyway to say that without acting like a dick so sorry if i offended you.

Im not sure who you are referring to, but I dont feel offended at all :) Anyway, I do remember that I preferred a certain approach with my Z-95 in a dogfight. It has to do with the position of the wings of the Z-95 while I chased a target. Using mainly a combination of yaw and roll in when the target turned away. To keep the guns pointing at the flightpath of the target all the time and not to the sides of it. One in front of the other so to speak.

The advanced xwing has the possibility to mount 3 guns. The 3rd pair is placed on the wings near the body of the ship. So without much room between them. Maybe this will be more usefull for you. 3 Equipped guns also Gives a nice spread of fire, also means not all of your guns hit all the time against a target with a smaller surface.

Most ships in SWG have what I call "Blind spots", in other words: a spot that you cannot do damage to.  Sounds crazy but it's true, it makes all of the ships a little unique and it's great for dueling! I've found the best ship combo for me is heavy Shields, and huge Capacitors.  That way you can take the hits and also fire like there's no tomorrow!

    Thanks,
