27 Minute Live Presentation - Conan Goes to Tromso, Norway Video!

A "Live" Presentation of Age of Conan, in Tromso, Norway. The filming credits goto Ostekake with the presentation done by Erling Ellingson, Funcom Product Manager.
Erling does a basic walkthrough at the start and explains the mechanics with fighting and combos. Eg. You have Combo's on the hotbar and when you click them you have to manually direct attacks aided by U.I or from memory to pull them off. However, if anyone wants to talk further about the film and contents, that would be awesome.
It was probably the smoothest-running and best performing demo we, as a community, have seen to date! There was only one noticeable instance of "skating", but that occured during a dodge animation whilst the character was in movement - perfectly acceptable given the age of the build and at this stage of development - easily fixable. Performance "issues" aside, the game looks amazing and the city of Tortage looks spectacular!
The game is in BETA at the moment so what we see is not final.
Because it was filmed in a theatre, video quality and sound is a bit off. Apart from that enjoy!
Whilst waiting for Ostekake (filmer) to upload to Stage 6 Divx, I made this to show guild mates, because originally it was only available as a torrent.
Erling Ellingson is also known as Lord Orion on the Official Forums also known quaintly as "Cheeky"! Hence the end credit reference.

Osekake from the official forums attended and filmed it with a HD camera, although the lighting and sound system isn't the best, he done a great job overall. He zooms in sometimes to see details.

"Well, the whole thing started on Friday at about 12:30 CET when all of a sudden
i noticed "Conan goes to Tromsø" on the community site !
I was like..."Dude where's my HDcam !!!"
I threw myself over the phone to get hold of a HD cam and after that was
secured from the very nice people at Tvibit in Tromsø i called tons of people
living in Tromsø, telling them about the demo.
Then when i got my hands on the camera i promptly started to set up my
'production line' so i would be ready for a Saturday night filled mixing, encoding and publishing.
I did a trial run and at about 4-5 in the morning on Saturday i published a test that worked out well.
Boy was i wrong !....
Mid day saturday, i called Lord Orion and we talked about what he would
be showing and various other stuff. It turned out he was going to be doing
several things in addition to the game play demo.
2 hours before it was to start i was on site setting up the camera and after
a while Lord Orion popped in the door with a certain portable hdd with the good stuff on it
The people from Insomnia and Tvibit helped out with all the technicals and after a bit of back and forwards
- everything was ready on time !
People poured in the doors and the cinema was about 3/4 full.
The first part was an hour presentation of Funcom and how you go about
spending hundreds of millions of dollars to satisfy the evolving mmo market.
We got a look at Genesis and Dreamworld and the internal workings of Funcom.
Very informative and something i hope to be able to share with the rest
of the community soon.
Then it was on to the gameplay demo and as planned i switched the camera from DVD quality to HD quality,
but i messed up, it recorded in the wrong format ! Ofcourse this - i didnt find out until Sunday...
The game play demo was awesome, even for me who had to battle an unruly
auto focus, a sagging tripod and horrible light conditions
For those who where there, who could take it all in - with the sound - the graphics
and receive the full 'Conan experience' it must have been breathtaking !
When it came to the content there where several instances of NPC voice acting examples,
'she sound russian, doesnt she' comes to mind.
When you see the video you will know what i'm talking about..
Also the video have an exclusive of Laranga, one of the NPCs outside Tortage.
Oh, ye, there is also some new music ! (at least i have not heard it before)
In addition to that everything is in 1280x720 so there is plenty of details to
see in stats, spell and combo descriptions and more.
(among other things Desecrating Benediction)
Best of all, Lord Orion remembered to talk English ! so no subtitles needed.
After the gameplay part was done there was a quick Q&A with pretty much
the standard questions we get on the forums each day.
At the end, everyone who wrote down their email adr on a piece of paper
got the chance to be 1 of 5 who will receive a beta account.
So it would have been nice for you guys, if that was that
and i could go home to publish the video... right ?
Oh no, Insomnia insisted on feeding Lord Orion so i tagged along.
Long story short, Lord Orion was fed and then he wanted to see every single
bar, pub, waterhole, disco, underground cellar scary drinking place in town.
Guess who got the "job"

I am also looking forward to this title. There isn't much with any substance competing with it other than WAR. I try not to get my hopes up.. I made that mistake with Dark and Light......
Ohh I know I lasted a few hours with dark and light lol sent them an email saying I want my money back lol .
That's exactly what I did, I was one of those pioneer suckers...

I have been following this game from day one. I have a genuine positive outlook on this one.. finally a game worthy of my money!
Yes I like it for the fact he explained how the User Interface worked in relation to combat. Like Spell Book on one side, Combo's on the other and how Combo's learnt are can be equipped anytime in the world and in order to do one you still have to press the directions in order. It isn't click as fast as you can - or like you find in a regular mmorpg - its different and I love it!
Yup, like every other mmo out there right now. That we are stuck playing until aoc comes out. Dealing with eq2 for the moment. Lots of friends, point and click as fast as you can raid instances. So trying to get them interested as well. A bunch are and some are still (waiting to see) how release will go. The spell casting looks neat and can;t wait to give it a shot. Looking to try the ranger and one of the healers. Not sure on the race.
Myself and a few from city of heroes will be joining the ranks as well. Are you and Avery in the same guild? I suppose I need to be looking for a stable home before it goes live..

NO unfortunately I don;t have the pleasure of being a member. I'm not going to be playing on a pvp server. More of a pve player. Just a fan of Avery's : ), Love the new sig !
Holy freaking hell. this game looks so godamn cool. I have been following it for a long time now and everytime i see a big information release like this one , i just get more and more pumped up about it.
The detail they seem to be putting into the world is just so important for an immersion lover like myself. I simply cant wait. Eq2 is what ive been using to distract myself for the next several months . But ive actually been finding myself spending more time in Oblivion finishing up the guild quests. Clearly im sick of target and click your hotbar games.

Yep looks very interesting, the world immersive, even the character animations look better. You can see each month literally how well the game is coming along.
I know I can;t wait to play this game. ./kicks the dirt and goes back to eq2 lol we are raiding DEATH TOLL AGAIN......

level 70 neat dragon at the end though. And with new expansion coming out bringing everyone up to 80, will keep me more than entertained until aoc comes out.
Everything about that video was amazing...except the part when he went into the 24 man dungeon. It just gave me a flashback of WoW raiding.
Hopefully they don't build a big emphasis on raiding and acquiring "epix" loot. I also didn't catch if the dungeon he was in was instanced or not.
