I had 2 accts w/all the trappings up until about 3-4 months into the NGE before dropping both accts.  It just wasn't fun anymore and I just got tired of all the unwanted changes except those wanted by the vocal MINORITY of players that screamed the loudest...."It's not fair that my Master Chef can't win vs his Master Rifleman...NERF HIM!!!"

It appears to be corporate spin from a company shill.  Bottom line being advertisement for the digital download, nothing more.

This guy is the typical I'm smarter then anybody else, they'll believe anything I say.  Sadly this arrogance seems to prevail in LA/SOE/Sony.

...and just in time to from the looks of it.

I had a hunch that subs were down again so I thought I'd create a new 14 day account to look at the servers and sure enough it's looking bleak again. I'm guessing we'll see more "interviews" and media exposure before the Christmas holidays.

Even if it's something like Smed's "apology", it's all about keeping the name Star Wars Galaxies in the news.

Improve the game every day? Uhm..There's a patch-fix everyday? I must be missing something. Watching my other half trying to pick up the game again, I can still see bugs that have been in the game for the last 3+ years. Including development time, we're looking at what, 6-10 years of SWG, and still some of the same bugs around? Now that is unacceptable.

Sorry to be cynical and all, but this here interview is a tad 'spinny' ain't it?

My guild could put together full groups every night two years ago to go out and grind for conversion XP or for Jedi XP.  Every single night.

Once the NGE hit, the guild was destroyed.  Best I can tell from my vet trials, there are only two or three players left from a guild that had 30 members before the NGE.   Only one of those players logs in on a daily basis.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

The MMO Gamer: Every game has its ups and downs, but SWG, in particular, has been through some particularly tough times in its history. What would you say was the toughest of them all, and how did you go about recovering from it?
Jake Neri: When you look at any game in the history of MMOs, they have all had their ups and downs. I think that this is because there is no handbook on how to make these games. Our toughest challenge is adjusting to the changing needs of our players while still maintaining a living, breathing game with a live community filled with people that have all different needs and desires. Overall, we are proud of SWG, where we’ve come from, and where we’re going.
Why evade the answer Jake? You didn't answer the frigging question!  You didn't even dodge it very well.

    BAH!

Dodge is still not working well :)

Maybe he avoids the topic because he cant answer the question, all people say that some crapass update made all people leave the game, maybe they should check which one and and fix it PLUS listen to the community more...

Wow that about sums up what's happened in SWG from Nov 2005 to the present date lol.  Nicely done.

Please note how clearly the logical solution is stated also: "some crapass update made all the people leave the game, maybe they should check which one and fix it PLUS listen to the community more..."  Give this person an executive postion at LA and SOE please

P.S. They've been trying to "fix it" for the past 2 years.  The problem is when asked how they could fix it, us player types say, "classic servers please; we liked all the professions, items, content you deleted."  But they think they know what we "really" want, so instead we get bits and pieces of what was deleted added back to the game over a looong period of time.   AND when the game starts looking ever so slightly like it used to, the new audience starts to complain that now they're losing their shooter game.  Oi

Ok, listen. It wasn't just the NGE, the CU made a lot of people quit. The NGE just made the rest quit.

    CU + NGE = Failure+2

I was done after the CU because my whole damn guild quit. We were organized too and had a ventrilo server. I tried to come back but it just wasn't SWG anymore.

EDIT: They should have made a pre-cu pre-nge server. What they just tossed out all the files and the code? Give me a break, that's something a bunch of morons would do, I bet they still have it. If they released a classic server, even if everyone had to start from scratch, I guarantee they could almost be back in business. SWG was very very popular a few years ago, and it would definitely beat out even the newest MMOG's today.

Yo, fyi Jake:  SOE staffers have come on here and their regular forums stating clearly that the focus groups that led to the introduction of the NGE did NOT include those that were currently playing SWG.  Your biggest challenge was throwing your playing community to the curb hoping to lure some of Wow's millions to SWG.

That's reality fella.  Your post...is not...and that's being very diplomatic.

Jake is clearly doing his job...  Spin-doctoring a debacle...  He probably sat back after typing up his replies and laughed.

Jake Neri: There are no plans for a pre-NGE server, as SWG is in a great place right now. We have thousands of players returning to the game and having a great time with all the new features and content that we’ve added.

Lol if you believe this rubbish your stupid. Hmm carrot on a stick routine for the win! ;)

And that truth is that swg's numbers are not climbing... in fact they are probably falling slowly.

So, maybe finally, the "give us pre-cu" cries will die. SOE and LA have both made their intentions known now. Anyone who still thinks they can "make" SOE and/or LA conform to disgruntled vet demands are now truly deluded.
Yes, it's true. Mr. Neri does say there will be no pre-CU servers. Then again, six months ago, Mr. Smedley was saying that the NGE was '90% successful'. Now, of course, he says it was a 'big mistake and one we won't be making again'. What Mr. Neri says now may not be what he says in six months' time.

Ah yes, someone finally sees what I am... Indeed.... they keep swapping what they are saying... i think its humorous to be honest. Well im done waiting on pre-cu servers from them... they are stupid and will never get it.

I mean come on... if they can't see that 100000 people leaving the game when you roll out something like the NGE is something bad and may be a red flag for a rollback... then I have lost all hope for them making amends. This just solidifies that.

"I say im speaking with my money, they dont get it and they wont get it...$".

Thats mature talk and you know what i add this too :

I will never allow my childs to ever obtain or play anb $OE game (all acounts unsubbed).

Aswell all Play Station crap. TV and Sony related music movies whatsever.

As i mentioned in lithium sucker boards right after NGE crap , the money is in my pocket and not in the pocket of my childs.

    You can do also.

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.
