I see all these people complaining about how buggy HGL is and then go off on a rant about this or that, but did these people not notice that they are signing onto a BETA server and that the game is not released yet? I understand stupidity to a certain level, but hell this is beyond me. Beta's are there to test the content within the game and see how it sits with the general public. They also check for bugs, exploits, and hacks that may be present in order to prevent them upon release. It seems that HGL's beta ran just like I figured a beta would. Find a bug and report it and repeat. The whole reason beta's exist. I am getting tired about these o it is so buggy posts on every game in beta and it didn't stop with this game either as I see these lists of bugs. Well hell if you didn't report the bug to FSS for them to fix it with the report bug function in beta then WE CAN ALL THANK YOU FOR IT BEING BUGGY for not reporting! If you have reported it; great you understand the beta process and then wait for release before complaining about the issue you reported in beta.
End of annoyed rant.
None the less the game looks pretty good from what i've seen in beta and personally can't wait to see past level 22.
um, WOW's beta was exactly as horrid as when it hit retail (at least on hyjal). and on hyjal, it continued in that state for a good 3 months after retail.
vanguard's beta was about as crappy as their retail release.
what was your point again?
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
I pay for cable box. I pay per month for cable. They market on my cable box. It is the progression of the MMo regardless of how you look at it. No I did not go and read your post history Mortis. I figured by your glaring love for WoW within the post in this thread you were. It is glaringly obvious. I digress though. Yes I do think companies should be held accountable for their bugs and yes I expect that they fix them, but I am not blinded by stupidity to think that a game is going to be released with no bugs. Hell even the first gen MMo's still have bugs (well over 10 years to fix them or 8 in the case of EQ). None the less bugs exist. The crashing issue is VISTA client based with the DX10 setup which has been stated multiple times on the hellgate forums. They have recently patched the DX10 file setup which fixes the issues around DX10, but not other vista issues. Multi platforming a game is tough to do. I refuse to degrade myself to your level Mortis, but you have ideals that won't happen. Advertising in game is going to happen. EA just happened to be first to jump on it (Well just look at all the Madden series). If it was an issue don't play the game and stop trolling.
You post flamebait topics like this, you attemp to e-bully people who have opposing viewpoints, you lie whenever the facts don't suit you, and you have the nerve to tell me to "stop trolling"? Guess what, my "ideas" are already fact. Name one subscription game where ingame third party advertising is forced on the consumer. The bug you claim only happens on vista and DX 10? That's a lie (I know, another shocker coming from you), I use DX9 and XP. The crash that sends me to desktop every 20 minutes is related to audio settings. You seem to forget I'm beta testing the game so I know exactly what I'm talking about. Please, don't "degrade" (LOL) yourself anymore to my level. Quit violating mmorpg's TOS by posting flamebait and maybe we can all rest easier.

So it's a crash having t do with your sound hardware eh? You use integrated or something? How about updating drivers, or I dunno maybe reading the stack trace to see if it's on your end. I mean since you seem to know what your talking about, since your a sit-at-home beta tester. You should be able to deal with compatibility issues like this yourself.
Your little crash has been seen plenty before by people with way outta date sound drivers. Good lookin out though, supreme beta tester.

1. I'm not a sit at home beta tester. I never claimed to be such. That is a maliciously ignorant assertion on your part in an attempt to belittle me. You've failed.
2. I've never claimed to be the "supreme beta tester". I have only asserted that I've beta tested the game for one month and have made numerous bug reports. That is you, once again, behaving in a childish and insulting manner in a failed attempt to be an internet tough guy.
3. My drivers are all up to date. I do not use integrated peripherals. Perhaps some of the other testers who have posted the exact same issue are using integrated peripherals, perhaps they'd better benefit from your arrogantly ignorant egotism, but I'm afraid I'm won't.
The only differance between beta and a game that is released is you pay for one of them. Especially when it comes to MMOs. Thats the only differance. Cal
Heh, problem, it's not an MMO. FFS had mentioned many a time, the beta build you play is not the up to date version of their internal build. No one cares if your gonna whine, or complain about a game being bad or not, you didn't pay for it, so really who gives a shit?
I've been in enough betas to know that if the beta isn't going well, then neither will the game. Using the excuse that its just beta has never been sufficient reason that the finished game will be better.

I have to say , after playing for nearly a week in this 'Beta' the performance, memory leaks and freeze bugs a week from retail launch are worrying.
The game has potential but why do the players have to foot the bill for flagship to get the game in shape?
I can forgive a lot if bugs but the terrible memory leak that is still there even now is very worrying.
