Rising Arms - A PvP Guild

pandaheropandahero Member Posts: 38

Who is Rising Arms?

We are a professional* PvP Guild solely based in Funcom's Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. Since our founding in February of 2007, we have accumulated a large number of skilled and experienced players with backgrounds in multiple games, including: Lineage 2, Dark Age of Camelot, Guild Wars, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, as well as numerous other games.

Rising Arms will be playing on an FFA-PvP server, with no roleplaying of any kind. As a Guild, we are dedicated to specifically PvP in all of it's forms: Arenas, "World" PvP throughout the Border Kingdom Region, and large-scale GvG in sieges. PvE and large raids will come in time, but as a team, PvP is our focus. Together, We aim to develop our current skills and knowledge to create an unstoppable force.

*Professional, in this case, does not mean paid to play or sponsored. We are professional through our attitude, maturity, and skill.

Mission Statement

What we want to accomplish with Rising Arms is simple enough- to continue our members' history of being on top and staying on top. This will be done by using our past gaming experience, involvement, and skill to work together and be the best. We are a guild of initiative, striving to be the best at what we do, building strong friendships, and most of all having fun throughout the whole process. We can promise that this guild will not be like any other guild because we know what we are capable of as a group.

We are a relatively new guild, in the sense that we aren’t currently based in another game. Forming for the sole purpose of excelling in Age of Conan, we believe this gives us all a fresh look at a fresh game. Honor, Discipline, and Success will guide us through the game, and we look forward to fighting with or against all of you.

Guild Ranks

Citizen
Being the entry level to the Rising Arms, Citizen is the rank of both newcomers and casual gamers.

Responsibilities:
*Offer either money or services to better Rising Arms and its members. This includes farming, crafting, donating resources, etc.
*A Citizen must take up arms when asked to, whether it's to fill a slot in a squad, help in a siege, or any other PvP event.

Privileges:
*Allowed to bear the Rising Arms crest.
*Protected by the Militants of Rising Arms.
*Welcome to live freely in the Rising Arms city.

Squire
This is the trial rank for both new members or citizens who are attempting to become Militants. They must endure two weeks of this rank until a Squad Leader can fully accept them into their squad.

Responsibilities:
*Must portray the professional mentality and quality of being a Rising Arms Militant.
*Must fulfill their position and meet all standards of the individual squad.

Privileges:
*Allowed to participate in all PvP events.
*Can begin to work with Militants and the PvP Specialist on developing their abilities.

Militant
The heart and strength of the Guild, The Militant rank consists of several squads, stocked full with professional PvP gamers. This is the official rank of a fully privileged member.

Responsibilities:
*Represent the guild in a professional manner while showing their true gaming strengths.
*Attempt all tasks given to you within the best of your ability.

Privileges:
*Participation in all guild events and activities.

Squad Leader
This rank will be the overseers of their respective squads. They will help the organization of PvP amongst our members. During battle, we will need a single person for communication between the battle leaders and regular militants. This is the Squad Leaders job.

Responsibilities:
*Same responsibilities as a Militant.
*Be able to relay commands and information during battles between other leaders and your Squad Members.

Privileges:
*Participation in all guild events and activities.

Councilman
Each of the five Councilmen is responsible for voicing and addressing Guild issues in their own sphere of Guild management, as described for each position below:

PvP Specialist:
The acclaimed leader in PvP, The PvP Specialist's main responsibility is to keep Militant skill up and lead sieges. He will devise strategies for battle-keep raid/defense, and will play a huge role in all aspects of PvP combat. Will work with the Squad Leaders often to have them ready for large PvP events.

Guild Manager:
The Guild Manager will help with administrative-type work, including- but not limited to- forum and Ventrilo moderation, Guild event planning, and resource management.

Guild Recruitment Officer:
In charge of recruitment and evaluating applicants, this position will be necessary to filter through applicants so that we only end up with the best.

General:
The General is the leader of the Squad Leaders, who will report to him. He will be in charge of the day-to-day management of squads' leveling and grouping.

Diplomat:
He is in charge of inter-guild relations, handling situations from small arguments between other guilds all the way up to full-scale war if need-be.

Responsibilities:
*Uphold his position to the standards that the Guild requires.

Privileges:
*General moderation and administrative duties pertaining to his own role in the Guild.
*Large say in Guild-wide matters and changes.

Guild Leader
Rising Arms is run by a team of three leaders to avoid any maniacal monarchical control. This balance of power will provide an equal view over events and situations as they arise.

Responsibilities:
*Town maintenance, raid and siege schedules, Guild diplomacy, and internal issues.
*Overseeing of Guild matters.

Privileges:
*Everything and anything; A single Guild Masters decision can be overturned with a unanimous 2/3 vote on by the other Guild Masters.

ARMS (Advanced Raiding Merit System) loot management

General Overview:
This system is a mix between DKP and loot council. A member will put himself forward for a specific item during a raid. A council will take into consideration his current amount of ARMS points as well as several other factors such as previous loot acquired, upgrade value, and effort/skill. After considering each of the candidates, the Council will award the loot to a member, and a certain amount of ARMS points will be deducted from that member's total.

It has not yet been decided whether a number will be set for each item specifically or whether each member will bid the number of points that he is willing to offer; that decision awaits the time when the system can be properly tested in the unique context that AoC will provide.

Acquiring ARMS points:
A member of the Guild acquires ARMS points through a variety of activities including- but not limited to- raid attendance, material contribution, and Guild-wide PvP practice participation. The number of ARMS points given out for each of these activities is not yet set in stone and will no doubt vary as the game develops.

The use of ARMS points:
ARMS points will be used to decide who gets loot during PvE raids. In addition to this general use, ARMS Points may be used to decide who gets the items crafted by the guild through the use of guild funds/materials.

Other Info:
The ARMS points system will most likely be placed on a rotating calendar. For example a member may acquire ARMS points for 4 weeks. After the fifth week the points from the first week will be deleted. This is set in place in order to allow new members a chance at loot. In addition this system seeks to prevent inactive members from staying at the top of the ARMS points list, and thereby provide incentive to stay active. Finally, this prevents members from hoarding points indefinitely.

PvP Rules/Guidelines

Rising Arms is a PvP focused guild striving to earn the respect and admiration of friend and enemy alike. While we will quickly bring down our wrath on those who oppose us, Rising Arms does not condone dishonorable warfare. Therefore, we have set up the following rules/guidelines which all guild members must adhere to on a daily basis:

- Rising Arms will not grief, troll, corpse camp, or anything of the sort.
- Rising Arms will not in any way taunt or demean any fallen adversaries.
- Rising Arms expects all of its members to act mature and professional, especially on the field of battle.

With that said, a warning to other guilds and players:
While we strive to maintain honor at all times, these rules are only us giving you the benefit of the doubt. If you mistreat or dishonor us in anyway, these rules will be disregarded by us. We are a PvP Guild and will not hesitate to initiate PvP contact.

Requirements and Applying

Your application will go straight into the trash unless it is well-written. Know that first impressions matter and that largely our recruitment process is based around both your application and your qualifications and past history. It is very difficult to gauge a person's talent from an application. Think about what you're writing. Put yourself in our shoes -- we don't know you, and if you really want to be one of the best, then you should put considerable effort into it. Your application is a reflection on you as a player.

You should be able to blend with the rest of the guild. You should be patient. You should be mature. You should be calm. If you don't get your way, don't throw a fit. Don't be annoying. Don't fill our vent with stupid comments. If you aren't able to convey your thoughts in an intelligent and rational manner, we don't want you. You should not have any glaring mental neuroses. Being able to follow orders, thinking quickly, and reacting accordingly is necessary. You must have Ventrilo and a microphone. Know how to use them well, but also know when to shut the hell up. There will be no moaning, crying, whining, or anything else that will bring any negativity to a raid or PvP battle.

Remember, we want a wide variety of people with a wide variety of experiences. We understand this next-gen game combines the good pieces of many games of the past, so we need the best players to do the same. People who are excited about this opportunity and are ready to be part of our family are welcome to apply. We want prospective loyal members who can be relied on time and time again, as you will be able to rely on us. We expect intense participation, but you also need to be able to have fun in such an environment. So, we look forward to working with you and seeing if you are right for our guild.

I will reiterate:
DO NOT APPLY IF YOU CAN NOT HANDLE WHAT IS AT TIMES HARSH CRITICISM

Voice Chat - Ventrilo

We currently have a 25-man Ventrilo server set up. We welcome visitors and anyone interested in the Guild- whether as a curious passerby or as a player seeking a Guild. We welcome all discussion and debate about and around Age of Conan.

NOTE:
We will not tolerate any forms of harassment in our server, and anyone seeking trouble through their actions will be banned immediately.

Not really just, trying to give you a heads up, click his profile and read over the first 3 pages of his post history and you'll see all you need to know =) Pretty much goes against everything in your initial post.

Anyway, welcome to mmorpg.com AoC boards.

    Wish you well in game.

So basically if I joined, I would act much the way the book/game conan does in terms of honor respect smarts and battle-tactics, however if someone or another guild starts stepping on my toes and you give me the go-ahead i can turn into the drunk arnold schwarzenegger conan? I like this guild already

LoL.   Avery I think the only reason somebody would dislike your guild would be Envy.   Not like they aren't good decent people.   In fact I think they provide more to MMORPG forums then any other guild as a whole, unlike some others who bring NOTHING.

    Basically yes.

We don't go around picking fights, but we will be the first ones to stand up and push back. I'm the PvP councilman of Rising Arms, and am looking for people with this mindset.

    Gee wizz mister - u'z a smrt one !

My point inasmuch as it appears to bother you is that I am tired of pre-release fanboiiz proselyting the glory of something that is constantly changing. Kind of like Archlord, DnL, VG etc.

Rivalry? but, but, we hardly know the guy!

In all seriousness, good luck to your guild in your future endeavors, whether or not we will eventually meet ingame.

I don't believe we'll end up on an RP server, but we can always be board allies. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Just a point of order (and maybe get some free posts).... didn't I read that the only FFA (or open world) PVP servers will be on the role-playing servers? If so, I'd think a hard core pvp guild might have to play on them.

    Couple questions

    1. Are you going to get a bigger ventrilo come live.

    2. Is your leadership a bunch of people whom micro mange or boss around newer members.

    3. Are members allowed to openly talk and propose guild plans.

    1) Yes, the 25 man vent we have currently is only until we need more room. (saves a bit of $ =P)

     2) We don't micro manage by any means. The leadership is not here to babysit the guild members. We expect our members to be experienced MMO gamers by the time they make it to our boards, and treat all new apps with the respect they deserve.

    3) We strongly encourage ALL members to bring forth new ideas to the leadership. A strong guild is not successful because of just the leadership, it is my philosophy, that all members should be leadership material....they just happen to be a militant rank at the moment. With that in mind, the leaders at RA respect all members the same, and consider all ideas brought to us.
