DnD in Holodeck beware safety off

This is not meant to be neither positive nor negative review just objective analysis of the game at least how I have perceived it.

Dnd  was always   for me something that represented a fantasy world with endless options, clever ,beautiful puzzles ,a trully magical world to immerse yourself into ……. Well here is the problem I just could not immerse myself at all, but god knows I tried, and I wanted so much to love this game …

Besides I adore character customisation, I love combat, quests itself once I am in dungeon s,

but world itself as whole is dull, boring, incomplete and nonbelivable….

Again I find Town itself ugly and somehow messed up, well I thought it was  kind ok  once before you get to the  market, but once in market  its somehow non-systematic and confusing. But worst of all in the game is that world itself does not feel alive , it doesnot feel like a world at first place it feels like theme park where every door is a  ride  or even something  like setting a  holodeck on a voyager (startrek),I can almost hear computer saying please state level of difficulty  solo, normal or hard ….. eeeek …how  am I supposed to immerse myself  into the world if  I am constantly reminded that every door is a separate attraction ….. well it ruins it for me

And once out of dungeon nothing to do ,I often found myself wandering trough empty streets amongst the doors of  the quests I have already done and those I could not do  solo nor  find a party to do it with , mostly wasting my time and waiting  with nothing else besides questing   to immerse into, not home to put the trophies from battles , no weapons to craft, no economy to contribute to , nor a proper world to explore, constantly  feeling that  game is empty and incomplete ….

I only  hope one day someone will make a proper and complete game that will feature this excellent character custmatisation and combat system

p.s its like a buying a book called 1000 horror stories ….. well just give me one full proper story

I came to DDO from CoH and when I first saw the city I said to myself 'i'm going to make a character with the highest jump and tumble skills possible and climb up that tower someday, or maybe jump across that pit...' etc.. Then I discovered all the damn invisible walls preventing you from going anywhere but the street, sometimes even preventing you from jumping over kneehigh fences .

Even though there is no real point it would have been nice if we could have explored a little bit, even within the city walls. Maybe even find some hidden quests. We can't even really explore the adventure areas because you've a map of the entire area as soon as you enter .

Berndr: had you done any research about DDO before trying it or did you assume it was going to be the standard WoW/EQ experience only with D&D rules? Not trying to start anything, I'm just honestly curious.

Yea I did,but  I was just hopping that DND might have changed in last year and got better

    p.s.

if a dnd  had an equivalent in a  real life ,,, then i would compare it to a  prostitute in whore -house

you simply go to a whore house and nock at the door ....... select  the quest  blond , solo , group , soft ,hard .....etc

No need to look for it , no need to work for it, no searching , its simple and easy , and fast  , your  quickie quest... a girl behind the red door

And if you liked it ... well you know where the doors are , you can repeat it as many time as you like ,,

And ...they all say they love it , at least  at the beginning

There is only one problem, nobody  seem to stay long,  nor marry one of those girls

...um...there's no ceilings on the city.  You can jump on virtually all the rooftops in all of stormreach.  In fact, when you beat Velah or miscast teleport you can get a REALLY interesting view of Stormreach as you fall down to the city from a mile in the air...

Yes, there are some that you can jump on, but it won't be long before you are running in place because of an invisible wall. I can understand having them around the edges of the zone, like the war walls in CoH, but what was the point of the one preventing you from climbing on top fo the Rusty Nail (no tetanus jokes please )?  That was one they added after launch too, used to be able to get up there.

It's good that this is one of the few things I can complain about .
