my favorite memory was in maplestory(i know wierd huh) i had one of teh biggest guilds in bellocan and was leading it(awesome) and i looked forward to it everyday to figure out what was going on and figure out who wanted into the guild. i still remember those days and i wish that i didnt quit the game....then i remember THE GAME and dont feel bad
I wouldn't play Everquest classic again but Everquest and:
1. First moment of playing game and entering this world, and exploring surefall glade, qeynos and then seeing blackburrow. 2. Trading in EC tunnel and raising money for a twink. 3. Playing a twink ranger(fungi tunic and proccer weapons) 4. Starting with a load of other people on a brand new server and playing a druid. 5. Playing in Karnor's Castle, was great holding a very volatile camp that frequently led to trains at the entrance. 6. Levelling up a shaman which was a great versatile and rewarding class, and enchanter just to charm-kill stuff. 7. Arranging a 20-man raid with a friend and killing a dragon in hope of some spell drops. 8. LDon, first moments of that was great fun. 9. Betabuffing on the test server, you played someones elses maxed character and you could pick any class to test some of the stuff.
Loads of other moments and many frustrations as well.
AC2 was fun for a bit with its portals, group quests and those drudge is it?, and invading their bases.
WoW, best moments were in the battlegrounds. Playing well and pulling off victories against the horde when they won like 90% of the games. Its PvE was largely forgettable except the odd fun moment where the troll area started.
God, my favorite MMO moment would have to come from DAoC. Me and my guildies formed a Bomb group. Went around every where and just bombed everything to pieces. Made well over 100k rps that day from it. Was the best to because we had such an awsome group for it to (was hib btw). Plus was during a Mid Raid on hib so we just ran around Speed6 and just Owned everything was the best time i ever had in DAoC
Though Planetside was not my first MMO, it was my favorite one and the one I have the fondest memories of. OMG...back when it first came out when you'd have upwards of 600+ people battling for a base. The battles we use to have were intense and would make you crouch down looking for cover in RL. LOL! The hundreds of incoming rounds from small arms, aircraft, tanks, mag riders and whatever else the enemy could throw at you made you really feel like you were there. Overlay that with the chatter on teamspeak and nothing...I mean nothing can compare to the hours and hours of fun we had in the game of Planetside.
Played that game for 3+ years and to this day no game has even come close to bringing that level of intensity or sheer fun as Planetside did.
Will someone please make a new Planetside game all ready!
Everquest was the MMO that gave me the most lasting memories. I started playing June of 1999, friends of mine were in Beta but I wanted to wait a little while after it went live to play.
I played up till about 2004 (went to EQII beta, then EQII Live), I played off and on. The last time I played was when SOE introduced The Combined. I played for about 6 weeks and quit once again.

i think it was the first day i played ultima online. i have been a pc gamer since the late 80's and became a hardcore pc gamer in the mid 90's. I dont think it was really anything in particular that i remember it was just the entire concept of the game that blew me away. never before had i encountered anything like an mmo and it was even far better then i imagined. back then games still had that magical feeling to me before it all turned into that stellar tank/dps/healer bullshit that we still have to endure to this day and probably many years to come.
Put me down for SWG pre-CU as well. Particularily before mounts and vehicles were introduced, and running was the only mode of transportation. It made exploration meaningful, especially when POI's were not listed on the planetary map.
I couldn't agree more. There was a lot of memories of the game that I enjoyed. One was when I was working on being a chef, well I went down the drink section and decided to have a little fun.So I waltz into the theed cantina and walked behind the bar. I made drinks for anyone that came up and ordered some.
To my surprise many (and I do mean many) people actually roleplayed back. It was exciting because one gentleman acted like he got drunk and started hitting on this dancer. And then this other guy roleplayed that the dancer was his girlfriend. And so the two guys roleplayed getting into a fight.
At the time I still had points in pistoleer so i whipped out my pistol and told them to "take it outside boys" And to my surprise they did! Most everyone stopped what they were doing to go outside and watch the duel. It was all in good fun.
Its a shame that pre-cu will never be back for real... ah well... at least I have good memories.

Best MMO memories - almost all where there was interaction. I think in the SWG CU time, grinding bols was fun somehow, because of the combat system at the time, one could chat quite a lot at the same time, thus it didn't feel too horrible. Especially sitting up for xxxx hours at the double and quadruple xp week-ends.... and perhaps when some guildies took you to some of the dungeons for the first time - the "awsome!" feeling. Also the crafting was fun, for a while. Decorating your shop, getting work-orders for something someone needed that didn't exist as (better) loot drop......
And, quite recently actually, in DDO, when the apothecary or whatever it is called, a new lv4 dungeon was introduced, and none of the vets knew the place, so it really was an encounter that was new and exciting for all, many mistakes were done, none of the "been here 1000 times, go here, avoid that, etc". (for me almost all dungeons are/were new, since I don't have a max level char).
UO also had it's highlights, simply for the freedom and non-linearity. Go to your house, meet up with someone, adventure, decorate, etc. I miss it somehow, but can't get myself to go back with all else going on.
My favorite memory had to be fighting off a base raid with 10 people in SWG.
The imperials massed up about 80 players to raid one of the rebel citys but we only had 10 people there. Thankfully for us i was a combat medic with _amazing_poisons at the time and shreded apart 80 players so badly they were only able to get 1 out of 8 bases in the 2 hours they were vulnerable.
It got so bad at points the imperial leaders were sending me tells asking me to leave the battlefield and others telling me i was throwing poison thru walls hence exploiting.
Ahhh the good ole days of combat medic clone-zerging. Of course this shows exactly why they brought the CU, but it was still hella fun on my part lol.

I'll also add before godmode buffs/armour were ingame and, i know it's a ludicrous idea, you needed to group to kill things. SWG for the first month or two was an amazing experiance, however my favourite moment came in my first mmo which was Neocron.
In the first week i ventured out of the city gate a clueless noob with no idea where i was or where to go. I then got ganked by a group of 2 tanks wearing PA and laughed. My goal had been made clear, lvl up and own them. So i did. Then it turned out once we got chatting that I had accidentally walked into the middle of an op war and they still remembered me. Low and behold we've been gaming as a group since. Happy days.
An experiance that i doubt i'll get in any game again.

Mmh I think the first time we took down the hardest raid boss in Lineage 2, 2 years ago (Antharas). With like 400 people.
