Bethesda, the creators of the famous Oblivion RPG series got a 300 million dollar investment in order to make MMOG(s).
Bethesda formed ZeniMax Online Studios.

We can only expect the best from Bethesda + 300$ Million
Does this mean the game of many peoples' dreams? An oblivion online? Who knows what its going to be... But an Oblivion MMO would be ... amazing.

Old news now.
However you look at it, this will be another fantasy style mmo. Either Elder Scrolls or Morrowind MMO or Oblivion. All these will be probably copies of the original games but with a MMO aspect to them which is fine but the series is kinda played out.
Edit: Said Oblivion twice.
kool good to hear hope they dont flake out our make a brand new mmorpg think that oblivion online could have lots of potential to it and could be very detailed if they really knew what they where doing...
300 million for an MMO? Something's not right about that... Is it being funded by the US government?
Indeed. You may be bored of fantasy, but trust me - theres many that still arent. Fantasy is just my thing, thats the reason I did not like CoX at all. EVE is one of the best games, but I dont play it because I prefer having swords and magic and an avatar.
I however still am happy to hear this.
Oh and ... Elders Scroll = Oblivion :S You listed them as 2 separate games ^^
P.S. no offence or anything meant, dont take it as an insult.
Not for 1 MMORPG, but its more like for the entire company .... Its an investment, and they gave it for the development of MMORPG's.
Well, I meant it more as a snark against the federal government.
But, still, 300 million dollars seems a bit much. Especially to a company who has never made an MMO before.

LOL I did. And yeah to me I played all these and they would seem like the same game released as we got now like EQ2 Vanguard etc. Not much they can add to these to keep it that different. Oblivion was meant to be a single player game, so was Morrowind.
already a thread on this mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/152953
the thread title here is a bit misleading. the $300 mil was given to the company as a whole to not develop just the upcoming MMO but many other games as well.
*edit, I'm sure you meant "The Elder Scrolls Online"
As a longtime fan of The Elder Scrolls I can honestly say that it would be the most boring and pointless MMO in existence. TES works beautifully as a single-player game and is relatively unique in that respect. "The Elder Scrolls Online" is every fantasy MMO you've ever played wrapped into one...from Everquest to Vanguard. Only with TES it's slightly less interesting because there's not a lot of wiggle room with the lore.
I hope to god that ZeniMax Online is something completely seperate and new from Bethesda and I hope as soon as Bethesda gets done raping Fallout they'll go back to TES and make the best The Elder Scrolls V they possibly can improving in every way over the dumbed down mainstream crap that was Oblivion. Bethesda has long said they wanted to keep The Elder Scrolls a single-player RPG franchise. Of course in recent years I've learned not to believe anything Bethesda says so...I guess it's up in the air.
