Warning: EA Store

After purchasing and downloading HG:L from EA Store, I can't install it. Says I've got to wait over 2 days. They call it "pre-loaded". I've never heard such bullcrap to be honest.

I'm looking into if I can get a re-fund, but I doubt it. Really pissed off right now.

 

Bottom line: Don't buy from EA Store unless you are really patient. And even then, don't do it - they don't deserve your money.

Actually pre-load is a common thing with digital distribution. Basically the game is available to download a day or so ahead of release so you don't need to spend release day downloading it, they just release an unlock code for everyone day of. Unfortunately,  the EA downloader is terrible. Their policies are bad and they're not very quick on keeping their dates in line with the actual release.

Yeah, we bought our pre orders from the EA store as well (just because we wanted the dye kit color). I really cannot fault them, however, as they are bound legally to only release the software on a specific date set by the game's owner. So, we too, are sitting with pre-loaded software just sitting on our hard drive, unreachable/unplayable.

If FSS is opening the servers for pre-orders and the beta players, they really need to coordinate this action with their pre-order partners, a'la EA, Walmart, etc.

I tried to digital download the US-version but EA won´t let me. I live in Germany.

Then I tried to digital download the UK-version but EA won´t let me. I live in Germany.

Then I was so desperate to go to the German EA page and digital download our always crappy shit-german laguaged localized geek version...

and digital download is not possible. As always: Germany behind the moon.

If you had read the other posts here you should of seen many people saying not to buy via ea download. It sucks.   Its not  just EA bashing, ea download really does suck.

 

oh yes, and you are an idiot thinking you could play before everyone else just because you downloaded it

yes they said they would open the servers early for beta testers who also purchased - but that didn't happen..unless they opened it in the last few hrs....

 

edit....yes I see the servers are up for beta account holders

I did not download from EA Store hoping to get a head start on others. But I fully expected (foolish of me?) to be able to play 1. The single player and 2. Multiplayer when everybody else are allowed to. Not so: EA customers get the shaft and have to wait an extra day. And have to put up with EA Download Manager bullshit.

Last night I sent a mail to EA Support, detailed and as polite as I could. I have still not gotten a reply. This is the first and last time I deal with EA.

Please, let's not try to defend EA here. Clearly they are offering poor deals, my bad for dealing with them without ensuring I was getting what I was expecting perhaps - but let this serve others as a warning.

DO NOT DEAL WITH EA STORE.

Good god, I feel sorry for digital downloaders if they have an issue with downloading. I had an activex issue this morning, which I have resolved now, but man...I had to google random forums to find a telephone number to call EA tech support! They didn't even have one anywhere on their site, just FAQ's and some email bullshit.

 

in case anyone else needs it, the tech support number for EA is: 650-628-1905 What a pain in the arse. I never would have done digital download, but I didn't have a pre-order and I can't get out of the house to a store today, bleh.
