My first character is going to be a Summoner with skills in Carnager and all 4 elementals. The Carnager looks like a really good minion for bosses, especially with enrage where he goes berserk for a short period of time. The 4 elementals should cover the 4 main elements in the game and also a mobs weakness. This allows my character to focus on a physical direct weapon first and splash damage weapons.
Right now my favorite weapon is the flamethrower. It's a DoT fire weapon where you can sweep an area and watch the mobs fry.
Edit: I'm hoping you can play all 4 elementals at once.

i had my sumoner with my Carnager and 3 fire minions taking on the bosses in the British museum after the sage and i just barely could stay alive. I died like 5 times they just kept coming, it was nuts. I eventually just fled. What a blast!!!!
I upped my carnager to 50% armor b4 i went in and still had trouble, but not as much. So yes this is a good idea. He can be your personal tank.
How many points are alloted for skills? I hope they implement some sort of respec.
I too would like to see some kind of respec. Right now I'm being very careful and holding onto most of my skill points. The carnager is nice but I kind of wanted the level 20 and final demon summon as well. Unfortunately there are only so many skill points to go around /=.

Well looks like I will be trying the Marksman and trying out the Sniper, Cloak and Flash Grenades. Going to try to construct a good pvp toon 1st. Its all still to new and dont know much about the trees, but at least I got some sort of plan right now.
I planed on making an Engineer first, since it was supposedly the "non-mainstream" first person shooter option; however, They seem to be much more about thier drones then i would have liked(ewww....pets). So Sniper-Marksmen it is . Just wish i had a better idea of what the actual effect of the skills was like and what kinds of skills are realy needed and not needed.
Also wondering how far they pulled away from the "Max/Min" trend with the skills like we say in diablo 2.
Thanks eumenidex !
I forgot to check youtube out, after seeing this, I think I am still going the route of the marksman!
Yeah, I barely survived that on my guardian. It was awesome! I totally wasn't prepared for that lol!

They already stated, and I agree, that adding a way to 'respec' your skill points would make actually dropping those points into skills a lot less meaningful. I don't know about a Summoner, but as an Evoker, even a rank 1 nuke will completely rape a group. Rank 1 Firestorm is my "OHSHI-!!" button.
.. But in a good way.
In addition, the demon summons seem to be broken down into tank, healer and caster. The healer only really being useful if you group a lot or plan on using elementals as the bulk of your forces. It's also a ways down the tree so if you don't want to dump points into a pet you may not be using all the time you need to go with elementals anyway so it sort of works out I guess.
But the bottom line being, its in no way broken or bad, but skill allocation is a nightmare if you're looking for minimal waste of points, because there are plenty of skills that require continual feeding to keep viable.
