First I love this crafting system it seems way more in depth than many I have previously encountered but have a few questions?
Can I make any type of item I want or do I have to specialize at some point.? Right now I can make anything, but will what I chose make have an effect on what I can specialize in? If I am required to chose how many things can you pick?
Thanks in advance for any advice offered

the EQ2 tradeskill system is very deep
at crafting level 10 and crafting level 20, you specialize and it does limit what recipes you can learn

From level 1 to 9 you're a general artisan you can craft Tier 1 of anything. This gives you a "feel" of any crafting profession you would like to be. From 10 to 19 (Tier 2) you get to choose what type of vocation you would most likely enjoy (metalworking, outfitter or spellcrafting or provisioner) then starting level 20 (Tier 3) you get to specialize which lets you choose the "final craft" you want to really specialize on and you are limited to what craft from then onward. Note: you can always respecialize your tradeskill it will reset your tradekills back to lvl 9 and you will lose ALL recipe that you have learned and all points accumulated and you can rechoose which vocation you wish to specialize. In the latest content upgrade you can have a secondary profession of being a tinker (not limited to gnomes anymore) or transmuter.
Just to make sure I was able to do the recipes I wanted, I started 2 alts..and I have one for Armor/Weapons, Tinker, Potions and Food...
That was the best part of this game...I actually finally liked playing my alts...as I usually gave up on them in other games..
So...try an Alt and make the other item you need
Cheers!
