This post is born out of my frustration at the constant generalisations that get thrown around on the forum. So let us look at some of the generalisations made about the War community and to be fair I thought I we should look at some of the generalisations made about the Wow community.
Warhammer Fans:
The Myths:
- We are not all Mythic fanbois.
- We do not automatically hate Wow.
- We are not all refugees from DAOC.
- We do not expect this game to be next coming of christ.
- Some people do worship Paul Barnett, but not all of us.( Only the sick and deranged ones.)
- Our lives will not end if this game is not what we hope it will be.
- We don't all think that War will be a Wow killer.
- Not all of us have tentacles.
- We don't all think that the competition between MMORPG's means that our favourite game has to win over yours. (The fact is, the competition means that as players, we all win)
Probably a safe assumption:
- We have an interest in the game and hope that it will be fun.
World of Warcraft Fans:
The Myths:
- They aren't all prepubescent.
- They don't all act prepubescent.
- They don't all hate any other game other than Wow.
- Wow isn't necessarily their first game.
- The don't all have an unhealthy obession with night elves dancing in only their underwear. (That is probably just me)
- The aren't all Chuck Norris fans.
- They don't all have short attention spans and want everything to be on easy mode.
- They aren't all Blizzard fanbois.
- They don't all think that the competition between MMORPG's means that their game has to win over yours.

- They like playing Wow

nope i think you pretty much hit the nail on the head so to speak.
The don't all have an unhealthy obession with night elves dancing in only their underwear. (That is probably just me) DAMN I GOT EXPOSEDI agree, I do want the game to succeed but I still have my "TT" I have been playing for the last 16 years if all else fails with the War MMO.
I pretty much like any MMO as I like fantasy and Sci-Fi (been a Trekkie as longer than a War fan). WOW was okay but I could never bring myself to like the graphics of the game even with the good PvE content in the game (if it had the avatar looks of Warhammer, I would be playing it now).
I'm a older gamer (35) and have two son's 11 and 13 who both have level 60ish WOW toons and love the game (and they are not raiders).
Easy mode, I would have to say it is good that it has features built in for those getting into their first MMO and don't need the frustration of a Vanguard" leveling system (Vanguard is not a beginner friendly MMO).
My overall hopes for Warhammer:
In conclusion to this, I think it is important for Warhammer to remain Warhammer. Not so much as to be the "TT" to MMO Warhammer but remain purposeful in its original plan of makeing a game that everyone can enjoy without feeling like they are at a real job (that brings in the onset of boredom and cancellations).

What's sad is I think the whole Chuck Norris fanboyism that is currently found (and I belive was born inside of) WoW has elevated to such a level that it is now just common place to find people doing jokes/talking about him in all games. I found while playing Tabula Rasa beta that he was still being used there as well.
In fact I'll go so far to say that it has even made Chuck Norris come back on top in terms of populartiy. Let's be honest, "Walker, Texas Ranger" isn't the most in-depth or exciting show out there right now. The fights are way to staged for me to even want to watch it. But back on track...his popularity has grown so much that he is being featured in commercials.

Wow player here, been one for over 2 years.
1. I despise Chuck Norris jokes. Utterly.
2. I don't have a short attenion sp--ooh shiny! Wait, what was I saying? Seriously though, 8 hours+ in a raid working on perfecting strategies and such is not short, nor is it expecting EZ mode. I WANT a challenge; it's more fun.
3. Blizzard's a good company, but they're not Jesus on a pogo stick. The bext thing I can say about them is they aren't SOE. *shudders*
4. The whole "my MMO wins over yours" thing amuses me. Because it's all arguing over the internet. And we all know what it means if you win an argument over the interwubs.Personally, "Best" is a matter of opinion, and very, very hard to define. Because all games have something they're best at. Admittedly, what wow has is being best at catering to the most amount of players. Mind you, that makes them a success. Can't fault them for doing well. But, all the same, I have no problem if another game comes out and replaces WoW as King. Hell, it's inevitable anyway. Someone, somewhere, will.

WoW has just ok cartoony Graphics and Warhammer although I believe will be fun to play better have a graphics overhaul because from what I have seen in the screenies looks like Daoc and not true next gen mmo in looks. Game fun is what matters to me good graphics makes the experience even better:P

Hah, there is a difference between your life ending and you thinking your life will end. I had to turn off all channel due to the Chuck Norris fad last ear. The Barrens chat was always bad, but never as bad as when Chuck Norris jokes were "cool". The problem is that they never were cool.
I hope that WAR is about RVR and that I can participate in RVR without spending 6 hours a day 5 days a week.
