A study of EQ fanbois vs WoW fanbois

Okay it's about time for all the EQ fans to stop coming here for the purpose of flaming WoW. The fact that so many people are coming here to post negative things about people who like WoW, and postive things about EQ without really having any valid reaons for disliking WoW, makes it seem like you all hold some personal grudge with the game because... OMG people out there actualy LIKE it more than what you like!

That's okay, that's your decission, I don't care what game you like better. HOWEVER it would be nice if you all would stop coming to these threads JUST to insult people. Am I the only one who's bothered by this? Do you see me insulting EQ fans? I'm fine with people posting GOOD things about EQ, infact I prefer it, I like hearing postives for all mmorpg's out there, however you do nothing but lose respect from your fellow forum goers everytime you make negative posts about WoW "FANS".

Hence the point of this thread, not everyone who likes WoW are exactly the kind of people I'd want to be in the same room with. However not all WoW fans are as evil as you EQ people may think, infact there's people who are fans of both games, how does that compute in your little system of hate based on likes? There's even quite a few people who like EQ who are pretty decent and have made some good posts where they were able to keep from spitting on people who like WoW.

 

So don't try and flame me on this, because if you actualy READ what I said you'll notice I'm not insulting anyone except the people who are just going to post and say how I'm a "moron". However, then they'll just be proving my point.

 

As for anyone else who'd like all this POINTLESS EQ2vsWoW bickering to come to an end, please sign below the dotted line.

I dont know how this whole EQ2 vs WoW war started, but in EQ2's defense I have to say that some WoW fanbois have invaded the EQ2 forum just to insult and spark "flame wars" *cough*Oracle*cough* I will admit that I have done some attacking in the WoW forum, and this thread that you made is a good way to bury the hatchet. I want a peace treaty with EQ2 and WoW fanbois. Anyone else who wants the flame wars between us to end just say so.

 Yeah i totally agree, Im pretty sick of ppl posting in the WoW forum bagging it out and same as the EQ Forum.

Ive got WoW on back order and when EQ2 comes out ill buy it and see what its like also.

WoW is still in beta and EQ 2 is just starting Beta so i dont think any 1 can compaire the 2 at this stage.

I totally agree with you guys this has to stop. All this fighting isn't helping anyone respect each others decisions. if you like EQ2 better than WoW (or the other way around) so be it but don't come to the WoW forum to insult other people because they like WoW. And if you "need" to compare the two games wait until they are both finished. Both are still in beta allot of things can change between beta and final release.

Yea i'm pretty sick of this war too. I've never bothered to fight in it really, mainly because i used to support WoW but have moved to EQ2 now. I think both games are going to be really good, and i hope to try out both some how. I totally agree though, i dont like bashing WoW supporters and hope to end the war.

But let me warn you  if you step foot into our EQ2 threads and bash us, watch out! haha just kidding  Hope to see you guys on both WoW and EQ2 Cuz il know ill be on both!

Regarding EQ fanbois, personally I despise them. All that rave about the game have said the same thing: they have played the game for atleast 5 years straight, STILL are immensely in love with the game, obsessed to no end, and either havent played any other mmrpg or consider every other mmrpg absolute junk.

Those who dont know any better will usually consider what they have to be best. Often the close minded, ignorant or misinformed.

 I can handle "I like WoW because of the classes" or "I like WoW because of the gameplay" I fully support that, because it's based on your oppinion

Yea seriously. Annex1, just for your information not all EQ2 supports have played EQ for the past 5 years and are still madly in love with it, obsessed to no end, and haven't played another mmorpg.

I played EQ, it was my 2nd MMORPG out of 14. I loved it a lot, but moved on to try 12 other MMO's. Everyone has their different opinion on MMORPGs, and you *have* to keep in mind that not all EQ2 fans are the exact same. Just like us EQ2 supporters can't assume that all WoW fans are the same either.

Why is this even a war? Both games are going to rock!

 I have played 10 MMO's and EQ isn't one of them, yet i am still anticipating EQ2. So i'm not one of those original EQ Junkies or anything, i just happen to be interested in EQ2.

I hope this war will finally end (although it will probably start back up when both games are released...), its been hard trying to decide who to agree with when all the flaming starts. I just cannot wait to try out either game.

In most MMO players eyes, EQ is the most popular MMO (in the US, gogogo Lineage in Korea!) and because of that, EQ is the game to beat. Everyone describes games as "The next EQ killer" much like games that were "The next Quake killer". I guess some of us EQ people are just trying to defend it.

Farseen let me clarify, I know that not ALL EQ2 lovers are EQ1 lovers, however many are. And my problem is often they dont just like EQ1, they consider it the best game ever and have played it for YEARS on end. Aka they are not casual gamers with casual opinions. They are obsessed freaks.

So when it comes to reading opinions and such, a WoW fanboi who hopes and/or believes the game will be the next best thing since the invention of the sandwich, versus, an EQ2 fanboi who OFTEN is also a obsessed EQ1 fanboi, youll get a very different type of opinion or rave.

Its similar to when AC2 was in beta. All the AC1 lunatics were saying how AC2 would become THE mmrpg of the century and how the new engine would be SO supreme and how rebuilding the world would be THE coolest thing ever. Well the majority of the casual gamers saw the game differently, as a pile of flaming crud, and moved on.

And there is my concern. EQ2 has some huge similarities to AC2. Great engine (for its time), devastated world, few functional cities, must go out to the wild and see whats left etc etc. And when it comes to opinions of this game, and many of them come from EQ1 fanatics, my hopes for EQ2 or trust of those peoples opinions becomes very low.

Yeah, it was wierd. The first time I pressed it the page that opened showed only the normal top bar and nothing below. I went back thinking it didn't go through and tried again to no avail. I finally opened a new window and saw that it did post something.

I like both games, but i rather play one than the other, Im sure people will try both maybe i would too. EQ2 and WOW are good games on their own rights.

Flaming on the other hand I think is healthy. Why? because it make the games more interesting before its release. If this forums has no flaming it would be like reading Snow white and the 7 dorfs. Though people should respect each others oppinions true or not, because everyone is BSing anyways. Everything that is said on everyones flame is all made up and what they hope game game would be. My suggestion is, just read it, laugh at it, and reply with another flame so you can laugh at the thread again. Im sure people dont try to make it get to their heads... right?.... well cept maybe for 5 year EQ fanatics, those guys have decease called " EQ is fun foreveryone"

On this note : keep the Forum PVP alive!!!

As for the realeas and so on, did'nt you all just agree to put down you pitch forks and huge each other. I personally read and artical in Guildwar and completly smited them for it. LOL! As for eq2 fanboys, there game is preaty good, I am not going to argue about that, and as for me I prefer wow, plus I just get all goos bumps when I see a nightelfs deep eyes, you just get sunk into them and sundenly you can stand up for a few minutes. LOL!
