If you call up the game company telephone support number in the game book, you can usually talk to a tech support staff person and explain the situation of lack of credit card or game time card and provide them with the registration numbers for your game to get your account activated without a credit card.
I have had to do this occasionally with several games including RF-Online when it was first released.
Steps .
Contact customer support on phone (number located in game book or website)
Talk to customer support person or technical support on the phone.
Inform the company representative the reason why you are unable to use a card at this time to activate game.
Provide game specific information such as registration code (verification code to create account)
Let them know your registered name for the game and account information on their website.
Ask for activation until you can arrange either a time card or credit card that has finances available to enter on their website.
Let me know what they say.
additional comment
Any company that has automated payment options has ways to bypass the requirement of credit card and game time card(also including entering information over the phone though their telephone support agents), hence the internet oriented payment and account interaction rather than telephone or physical company location requirement.
They should verify their ability to activate your account for the set amount of time promised and promoted by their product when asked otherwise they would fall under the category of false advertisement for failure to provide services assured to the customer.
No sir...the credit card or time card (which you DO have to pay for) goes on the account...but is not used until the 30 days are up...make sense?
If you sign up with a credit card it won't be charged until the end of the 30 free days.
You can cancel anytime in those 30 days and your credit card will not be charged.
BUT, if you enter a time card number it will automatically go onto the game at the end of the 30 days and there is no way to stop it once you have entered a time card number.
If you put in a game time card you need to be sure you want to play because there is no way to get a refund if you decide you do not like it.
On the box there is an asterix next to the "First Month of Play Included*"
On the back there is a red box at the bottom defining the asterix that says "*A Valid Credit Card or Game Time Card Required To Activate"
Your CC isn;t charged until the 30 days is up, but you need it to activate the account.
This is pretty standard for mmorpgs and has been for over 10 years. Some don;t require it to activate, but they are few and far between.
When ever I buy a new game or do a free trial where they ask for payment information, I go ahead and register giving them the information requested. After I've successfully logged into the game the first time, I log back out and log into account management and cancel my membership. That way if I don't want to continue with the game after the free trial or 30 free days that comes with the game, I don't have to. If I want to continue, I just log and reactivate recurring billing. It works like a charm and only Dark & Light ever gave me reasons for regret (you know what I mean if you tried it).
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
