Poll: Do you like Clone system in TR?..

mikevrkmikevrk Member Posts: 37

As far as all beta-testers and all who started TR know -
to (partially :) remove grind there's an option to Clone your character.

Usually it's done before path selection (i.e. Soldier vs. Specialist).

so, the poll is simple - do you like that system or not.

I think it's a excellent idea. Why didn't anyone else think of it?

  • Its a fine system, but its not adeqaute as a skill respec.  If it had both it would be great.

It's an excuse for developers to be even more lazy with content design, that's all.

I love it! Makes sense in a sci-fi game and is a terrific idea!

I'd list it in my top 5 favorite features since mmorpg's were born.

I havent messed with it yet but I think the idea is great. Createing new players and doing the same quests and missions over and over again just to get to the fun stuff is very boring and time consuming. Im glad they have a way around it wanted.

Yeah its a great Idea but as far as i know (from end beta) its the only way to respec  your skills and thats no good seeing as you kinda need to repsec a lot in this game as you level up, for example to become a Ranger you first have to be a soldier(a close up fighting sort of tank) while ranger is a class that tries to stay at range and cant really take too many hits so once you upgrade from soldier to ranger your skills are gonna be all screwed up and your gonna be a class that needs to stay far from enemies but all your skills are used for close range fighting at this point your screwed and you have to use one of your clones and move all your gear to the new character and its just a hassle, there needs to be a way to simply respec  not clone your whole character.

Mark my words, this game will be listed as a game ahead of its' time later on. This is very casual friendly and actually thinks about the customer's health, social needs and everything else that is healthy for you.

I wish every other game figured out that people don't wanna sit at a computer until hell freezes over leveling 3 level 50 toons day in and out (mostly raid games).

    Cloning = wonderful.

It makes those weekly"Well, it's raid time, so lemme respec" situations go away. You have to think about how you want your character to grow.

I *DO* think that when you clone, it should also reset attributes, if only because different trees really can benefit from attributes you have under-vested points into.

we try and can persuade developers to do attributes & skills reset when cloning - when the Clone system will be more effective..

Personaly i don't realy like it. It's just a way to get around the fact there is only one way to go.

I for one enjoy making alts from scratch, exploring new starting areas, races etc. This is something Tabula Rasa doesn't offer. So they add the cloning system to allow you to play different classes without having to start over simply because no one will want to.

I can see how it will help in Tabula Rasa i just hope this kind of system doesn't become the norm. For all Vanguards faults atleast it has variety.

the world is latge enough for you to explore...

I don't think I like the idea of killing the same low-level monsters @ starting area... :(

and btw - there's a TR Wiki already out there...

    and there's - http://tabularasa.wikia.com/wiki/Class
a description of the Clone system...

this was raised countless times during beta to no avail, regardless of how many people said that they wanted an in-game mechanic that allowed for a full respec of both attribute and skill points, the devs decided that a limited respec of skill points alone when cloning would suffice.

a bad decision imo, especially given how limited the skill selection is, and how utterly useless most of the lower tier skills are, it makes experimenting with different builds a lot more difficult and a real PITA - the only way to really be able to experiment would be to hard-core your chars all the way to lvl 30 at least without investing a single point in anything, which is difficut at best, and annoying grindish at worse

it's also a PITA due to the limited number of clone points available (something they brought in to nerf a possible money exploit early in the game - one that they had nerfed by lowering the reward for that particular quest anyway)

if there were more clone points available, and a full and free respec mechanic (even if it were to cost megabucks), it would make things a lot easier on the pople who like to experiment with build outs (and it would also bring a greater detgree of replayability into the game)
