Sorry but 30 mins in WOW won't get you much.
I think what it shows is your ignorance oF WOW especially since BC hit the shelves.

No, they are not. But they are a great mechanic for reuses of content (I’m speaking about art assets ETC..) and will keep people circling until the next batch. But no, Raiding and what not, are a minority. Most raiders do not realize this.

Raiders are completely outnumbered by casuals.

    I'm sorry you feel offended.

That's true in every MMO I have ever played.  The MMO genre is one of the newest and up till WoW was one of the smallest.  Thanks to WoW a lot people that never SUBSCRIBED to an MMO before, are now subscribers.  Now thanks to WoW, games like LOTRO, AoC and War have a much larger MMO fan base to try to get subscribers.

So I agree that WoW has brought a load of new players in to the MMO market.  I also have no disagreement with the fact that raiders make up for a much less amount than casuals.

There is one thing that always crosses my mind. I tend to think about the people who came to WoW as their first MMO.

What % of them will stick with MMOs and what % will just jump to the next hot thing, when they deciede to quit WoW.  I mean lets face it WoW is like Pokemon and Pogs it will pass.  IMO I think there will certainly be people who stick with MMOs but a lot more who will go to other non MMO games. Why? I believe that WoW has a ton of people that play with friends and stay for their friends.  A chain reaction of "Oh my friend got this game lets all get it and play together", made WoW what it is today.  Which is cool, but it also means when friends leave groups leave, and I'm sure in time we will see that.

I  would like to point out that the comment was that raiding isn't a core part of the game and it is. A lot of the others that aren't are doing pvp and doing it a lot more than  30 mins at a time which was the other argument.

I personally don't raid much these days and tend to pvp more but to say raiding isn't a core part of the game is silly. I only play the game and if you do an inspection on players lots are either wearing pvp or raid gear.

If you take bg's,arena's and instances out of the game i am sorry the WOW population would die dramatically.

I played wow from launch till last april (2.5 years). And before that I played a few other big time MMOs, EQ(3 years) SWG (first 2 years). Now I played SWG from start till combat revamp when Blizzard paid off SoE to fuck up the game.

I know myself that around 60% of the people on my server went to WoW when that had happened, we all acually went to the same server (Illidan).

But, if you think about it the game does have over 8 million subscribers, which is probly around 6 million players, being that most 50% of the players in WoW have two or more accounts.

I dont want to say WoW is the best of the MMO community because while I had played it, and more after I quit, I realized that it was just a nother MMO that had great success because of the Warcraft RTS games before it.

I think because WoW has so many awards, and its high reputation of great games, that even know when people research games to play that are fun and not boring, they find WoW is usually the highest on the charts because of so many people now playing.

It also has a lot of end game content unlike most MMOs like CoH/V. Dont get me wrong, coH does have end game content, I played it around a year, and it is fun, but not as much.

There is just so much to do in WoW that you cant do in other games. But people do come to learn as they play it more(like I did) that it is very competitive and not a game for casual players. You can play it casually, but it is hard to play casually since being in a guild is like having a job, and if you cant raid 100%, you cant be in it.

Retired - SWG launch to revamp (Jedi Knight and CM/BH)
Retired - WoW first 2.3 years (70 Paladin and 70 Rogue)
    Retired - CoH 1 year (50 Elec/Elec Blast)
Retired - EQ1 3 years (one of every class around lvl 40-50
