3. HUGE NEW graphical and Engine changes are coming down the pipe!!  you heard me correctly, Mythic will soon be changing the Graphics Engine of DAoC and updating its style!

4. Game is coming back to life!  more and more people are coming back /  coming for the first time each week! 

5. Revamped easier to use and see quest controlls!

so comeon, enjoy some of this fun... this game blows newer games out of the water.  Its graphics are very good if you update yourself to Labrynth of the Minotaur. (as seen in the banner up top)

 

 

ps. Mythics game Warhammer will not do as well as people seem to be thinking... i have a friend in beta testing (guildie) and he absolutly cannot stand it.  Warhammer is sadly going to be very "Clone-ish" if you catch my drift.

Where did you hear #3 from?  Got a link because this is the first I have heard of it.  I mean the campaigns offer updates to certain zones, but that is all I know about.

I have played DAOC for over 5 years. My knock on Mythic is the incessant nerfing and their utter disregard for the impact on the players.ceasless class changes/balancing/nerfing. Thats my concern with WAR.Same mentality at the helm there.

I don't disagree that DAoC is a fantastic game.  One of the very best on the market, and the newer / revamped zones are rather pretty imo.  That said . . .

There is currently no beta for WAR (they shut it down a few weeks ago).  So you friend can't be in it.

There is a website that tracks peak concurrency in DAoC.  It's been a while since I checked in, but I don't recall it showing a surge the last time I checked.  But, feel free to prove me wrong.

Maybe guilds have become more open since the last time I played, but the last time I played they were a bit more exclusive than in most MMOs. You seem to be pretty eager for new blood to join, and I'll assume that your guild (at least) is  pretty open.

I haven't read of anything about a new graphics engine, and I watch gaming news sites like a hawk.  Is this something new?

 

As for the PvP, well, yes it is pretty much the best on the market.  Agree on that point at least.

Are you having fun? Sometimes I think people get too caught up in game specifics that they lose this important concept.

You are mis-informed.  Beta was put on hold for a development cycle, not shut down.  All beta testers are still active, and waiting for the development cycle to end to continue in game testing.

I was a DAoC fanboi a looong time ago. I played it like a fanatic. Then that TOA thing happened and me and the wife moved on.

I checked it out about 6 or so months ago and one of the things that really really turned me off about the game was the pacing. Of course I never really noticed it many moons ago but now....it feels like my characters run in slow motion. Combat is extreamly slow paced and dragged out. The tempo of the game is just to slow. 

Dunno, I still have some of my best MMO memories from DAoC but the actual gameplay just seems dated and slow paced. I hope this is something they look at in the future.

But from the first time it came out and when they added TOA. DAOC have come a long way and I really do think they made it alot better an more fun to play. Also it is real easy to start as a newbie in this game and the people are very friendly.

I can't stand the game's whole "Simon Says" chain based attacks.  You have to use every attack in it's proper order every single time, you can't switch it up.  There are too few plain open attacks and almost all of the chain attacks have detrimental side affects which is a play style I can't stand.  If I wanted to be human with all of it's frailties and negatives, I'd focus more on real life.  I want my characters to be heroic, not these weak pathetic human clones.  They used to have healing classes that could pack a good punch, now they're just weak assed support classes.  No thanks.  Mythic started off strong in this game, but they kept nerfing everything into oblivion and they refused to update and upgrade the combat system.

I simply agree with this post...  You play a game for fun and to meet friends simple as that...  Its not a job its a hobby!
