as i do feel for you porkster about having to pay extra, aalmost a 50% price increase is a bit steep and will only end in them driving that player base away. Hey you never know, that could be actually their intention, as i have heard they are thinking about removing the monthly payment and having a shop route instead were you bought items with RL cash (which of course works out much much more than the monthly fee) but then you have many many more players not paying, but buying with in game gold, and the in game gold is bought for RL money, that money is refunded back into buying shop items as well as making those sort of farmers money too.
SoE have always shown the how much can we get out of our players attitude (take EQ2), extra content made but you had to purchase it as an adventure pack, yet all the other online games this was a free content upgrade that actually showed what your monthly subscription was also being used for.
You know I really thought MMOs were going to go the route of free to play. I can't even imagine paying more than 15 dollars a month to play. Heck, they aren't even worth that considering no MMO gives monthly free content updates(no not bug fixes). I don't see myself playing MMOs much longer. They are just too bland and linear, anymore.
Originally posted by RPGPorkster I didn't expect anything less then a horde of company fanbois to turn up and shout how to take it or leave it or they're a business, rhetoric. The price of the game is a personal qualm so at the moment can be left alone. The great fundamental here is the ideals of mmorpgs and the discussion if Sony Online are doing the right thing by themselves and the customer. As most should know the best deals in life is when everyone is happy. Is everyone happy in this situation? Let me state some points.
Why are you blaiming people for responding to your post?
You should be thankful there is some people who even wants to listen to you.
If you coun't the amount of people siding with you, and siding with SOE, you should see a trend. Many may not be on SOE's side, but they can see the rational reasoning for why SOE have done this.
Now stop wasting your time on posting useless informations on these forums, and go make some money so you can start play your favorite game.
Heh, I was the same as you. Then I clicked on account settings and it let me change to whatever currency you want to pay in, you should try it
You should perhaps investigate more yourself before posting, they aren't greedy (at least this time), they are simply making it easier to pick how you want to pay. A lot better then blizz and that lot where you can only pay US$
I believe the reason that Sony changed their prices in Europe and Also Australia is due to the Taxes there.
I don't get charged tax on my subscription fee in the US so my fee is a flat 14.99, but from what I understand there is a VAT on top of that in the EU and Australia. I might be wrong, but I believe that it is a fairly recent change as well.
Currently playing: LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too: Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Man, what the hell is going on with Sony??
The PS3 is a dismal failure, SOE is constantly reminding us why we hate them, and their electronics have been sucking bad lately. RIP Sony?
Oh no! 21 cents (.23 AUD) more per day!
How will people ever manage!?

SOE employees come to work each day and roll around in a giant pile of money, they won't go bankrupt anytime soon.
They don't care about the community, they just want more money and there are millions of people that will pay it regardless of the unjustness of it.
Do you know for certain?

I never cease to be amazed on how passive mmorpg players are in general. Good to see others that do see the truth or fairness.

Might be SOE has the same crappy billing system as EA for UO.
Don't want to pay €13 at the moment for UO and as I can pay $13 I prefer that option.
