Remember that 8800GTX competition on MMORPG.COM?

The Albatross competition where the main prize was a 8800GTX. I was the winner, too bad that I never got it :(

This isn't a rant or anything but it's pretty annoying that I didn't get it and thus no one else got it either. The prize was basically only meant for people living in US. But they also allowed to send money if you didn't live in US. So one thing lead to another, they promised to send the money next week but I never got it, been months (about 6 months?) now. I've e-mailed them many times until I gave up. I'm sorry that someone else didn't win it, would've had a better chance getting it.

That sucks.  How hard is it for them to post the fucking thing to you.  Its in really poor taste that you didnt recieve your prize and both the supplier and this site should be ashamed.

I hear this pretty often from prize winners. Often the prize doesn't arrive or it arrives all messed up.

Yeh my mate used to come on these forums but he won about 3 or 4 prizes and never got any of them, so he left the site and calls it gay now lol.

Don't expect to get the item because mmorpg.com will be crap and say they can't do anything and the site that was giving away the prize wont respond to you. So just report them to w/e your goverment has in place to stop scams like this.

That just sucks. MMORPG.com should be ashamed, how hard can it truly be to send the thing? Especially crappy since it was something cool, I've only won a beta key for that Rome game which got declined, which didn't bother me very much since I wasn't very interested in the game. But when it's something like money or a 8800GTX it truly sucks.

Well, the problem was that the prize came from buy.com which only transports inside USA and also to South-America but not overseas. So it was 100% clear that I can only get the money of the video card so we tried paypal.com but paypal.com didn't support the country where I live, namely Estonia. So the only solution was trough Western Union. I called my local post office and they said it was possible, and they just had to transfer money to the post office and then give me a code, which allows me to acquire the money from the office. And that's what I have been waiting for all that time, that single code that the contest holders promised to send me within a week. I'm not mad or anything since I didn't lose anything really but they just cut me off, they just could've told me that it was impossible send me the money or something like that.

I dont recall any stipulation about the contest only being open to US residents.  In fact i cant recall ANY contest over the past year or so having that stipulation.  I should know because i enter these competitions and i live in Australia.  I wouldnt enter if it was a US thing only.

Bottom line, you are entitled to your prize, do not settle for anything less.  There are legal issues here from them not sending you your prize, even mmorpg.com can be held liable as the promoter and competition holder.
