    1.  Space battles-  Star Wars and epic space battles go hand and hand.  I wouldn't be shocked if we got personal ships, capitol ships, and a better space combat system than that JTL shit at launch.
    2.  A true Master/Padawan system, it's cannon it can't be ignored.  This would be a great community feature and really immerse players into the game together.
    3.  A combat system that works, SOE still hasn't figured this one out.  Something tells me that Bioware will get it right though.  It will be turn based, and it will be deep.  I mean cmon it's Bioware for christ sakes.
    4.  Players will actually effect the story of the game.  KOTOR is pretty uncharted territory in the Star Wars universe leaving Bioware to weave a tale that everyone of us will be able to effect in one way or the other.  Bioware will not be shackled by the cannon of the movies so it's gonna be a free for all:)
    5.  Now this one is a possibility but I'm not certain of it because few developers have the balls to do it.  There is hope though considering alot of Pre-CU devs are working with Bioware Austin now.  Skill based leveling.  I think were going to see skill trees like we did in Pre-CU SWG and were going to be able to mix and match our templates again.  The only reason this did not work in Pre-CU SWG is because SOE devs do not know how to code, balance, or test for a shit.
    6.  A true Jedi vs. Sith faction system........nuff said.
Well thats all I can think of at the moment.  I think the list above is definatly going to be in the game at launch.  I mean cmon, it's not like SOE is developing the game or anything
     Post some of your ideas!!!!!!

Whoa! hold on there partner maybe you should wait till Bioware announces they are making a SW MMO which they haven't. (and one would think they surely would have if they are.). Till then your post is mostly delusional hype and wishfull thinking.

You skeptics need to realize, Lucas arts is just coming out with Force Unleashed. They can't hype this up until they get that marketed.

If this new Bioware/Lucas arts announcement isnt KOTOR online on top of Biowares Sci fi MMO report, I officially would call both companies totally retarded. KOTOR has been a huge seller. You would have to be a moron not to make a MMO out of it. Especially with the total failures of SOE. KOTOR has some great possibilities with the freedom of storyline. Bioware needs to take this ball and run with it.

In any case this is going to make for a strong product no matter what it is. I have faith in bioware.

BioWare has already said their MMO isn't a sandbox, I don't know why people keep asking for it.

There's a pretty distinct minority who, despite game company CEOs insistence that sandboxes suck, want sandboxes.

I mean, it's like the FFA player looting folks; they're a demographic that the game companies simply do not want to cater to because it's perceived that there's no money to be made with ANYTHING but a linear PvE oriented MMO.

    Like WoW.

WoW is the only thing the companies seem to be able to see.  It's the be all and end all of MMOs right now.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

While I, a former SWG player, would also love to see a new SW game...

I personally will not play another SW MMO that is not sandbox type.  The only thing I want from another MMO be it SW era or Fantasy based is that nice sandbox feel... Let the players make it work.  Listen to the players... thats all I want.  Simple eh?

I might be wrong, but i am under the impression that while linear gameplay might attract more people, the sandbox games keep their subcribers longer ...

I understand that, but that decision has already been made nearly two years ago, no point in arguing/discussing it now.

Whatever the IP, it's going to be WoW meets BioWare's Single player RPGs.

I agree. I'm not saying Bioware's MMO will be sandbox. But I agree that sandbox games allow for a heck of a lot more fun. Now I'm not saying an MMO can't be linear and sandbox at the same time. I believe both can coexist. I just think the sandbox feature should exist for when the players are done doing all the quests the game has to offer. That way the player can for example, create their own story about how the sith army was starting to invade their small guild outpost because they were in possession of some artifact that the sith want badly. Then, after the invading sith army having fought for days and succeeded, then we have said guild sending their army or a small elite squadron to steal it back.

Again I'm not saying this is how it will be, but it would be nice if it was.

I keep hoping and praying that somebody will do a sandbox again before I pass from this real-life Earth.  I keep getting disappointed, the latest being from the creator of the granddaddy of all sandboxes.  Lord British, why have you forsaken us?  TR is about as linear as they come, and I expected so much more from the legend who brought us UO.

And don't write off WAR just yet.  That one might turn out to be the sleeper.  If they just implement some decent crafting (we'll wait on the housing), that one might just do it.  With PVP servers for the folks who like the more open ground, and RvR core rules servers for those of us who don't, there might just be a place for everybody in that one.  The same might be said for AoC, though I'm worried about the twitchiness of that one.  And WAR seems to have a bit more humor, which is always a good thing imho.

I think by the summer of 2008 we should have a much better idea of not only where Bioware is going with this MMO, but with what we can expect from the next 5-10 years.  If WAR and AoC turn out to be scripted adventure games with little to no crafting and limited rewards for RvR, then we can pretty much tune out for the next decade.  But if they do, indeed, include sandbox elements then maybe we'll get another SWG out of Bioware.

And herein lies the game's biggest challenge. I firmly believe that the more story-driven content you put in an MMO, the more persistent-world attributes need to be taken out to compensate. You provide an excellent example of this in mentioning Guild Wars.
Guild Wars has a much more involving story than most MMOs, but it is also consistently argued whether GW can actually be called an MMO due to the overabundance of instancing the game uses.
I feel BioWare's game will be similar. Heavy on story, but also heavy on instancing to the point that countless flamewars will ensue regarding it's validity as an MMO. However, it's pretty much the only way to do it.

I think guild wars catches that flak mainly due to the world zones being instanced, not the missions..which aren't any different than dungeons that hold lore in any other MMO. Mission's were are very good way of telling a story. Pieced together well I thought.
