UO is a hell of a game...personally i don't think they can do much more for it though. People who love the every day roll-playing can still get into it. But ppl who expect changes and new and exciting events....sad to say but they will stop playing eventually. UO's been around forever....maybe it's time to see something replace it
Those people who love events and are role playing fanatics have already started leaving. I havn't played Great Lakes for more than two and a half years!
UO was a hell of a game, as an old school player 98-2001 the game is absolute garbage now. The days of FS / Hally hits, X-Roads and hunting or being hunted in Deceit are a thing of the past, but are fond memories. The game is infested with EA crap. It's sad, alot of people never knew what the old school UO was like
I miss that little neighborhood I used to be a part of in the North Minoc field on Napa.. there was me in my little sandstone patio house, and my friend next to me had a villa.. and LSD had a nice little player-run town and vendor mall going, and I used to spend hours sitting in my friend Raven's smithing house just socializing and helping her complete orders.
I also miss recalling into the lower levels of Deciet and meeting with the other silver weapon weilding fighters killing liches in two hits. And I remember that day during UO:R when they opened up Chaos/Order combat in Trammel.. MAN that was fun. People were hopping around Chaos and Order guilds and running all over Brit Bank Tram killing each other. And the funny thing, most people had the sportsmanship not to loot your corpse. PKing without griefing, isn't that amazing?
All of us who miss UO should meet on a free shard, or an OSI shard, or something and play together. I think we could have a lot of fun.

I miss customizing my appearance! lol. As dumb as it sounds, I love UO for it's customization. I love customizing my house too! I loved attending to the vendors and everything. I loved going to my guild that lived in the castle near Minoc when I was just a new newb. It was so fun! I would admire the great mages and their ability to polymorph. I would love to see the mages cast spells on themselves! I miss old school UO. Right after renaissance was released.
Man, I have been hearing that since I was playing back in 98! I am honestly starting to think UO is like a bad penny that just wont go away. Although I am still rather fond of it even though I don't play anymore. Loved the game, couldn't deal with the players.

Oh yes, the glory days when you would get offed for no good reason what so ever without any provocation or warning over and over again by people that would sit and macro all day so they could PK. Silly me, how could I forget those days...
The days of having to play my tank mage every day in and out so that my friends who had low level toons could enjoy an hour in the game without some jerk-off wanting to kill them just to make sure their game experience is miserable. Ah yes, the good ole days.

FFXI has roughly 2/3 off all their accounts are mules. The game forces players to make mules. Actual individuale players number roughly between 200,000 to 400,000. It is still a sucessful game though. But it does not have 1+ million players, even though there are 1+ million characters. Also FFXI counts number of characters no number of individuale accounts. Imagine if other MMORPGs also counted how many characters players made? LOL! EQ could claim to have 1.8 million to 22 million "accounts" instead of 400,000 (since EQ allows each player to create 8+ characters on each server and has 20+ total servers!)
Its not dead but it might as well be. It got turned into a lineage clone as soon as they found out asians liked the game a whole lot and between that and the localization the whole game lost its luster. I really miss the times before trammel when my guild could actually roleplay with other guilds and fight against pks and other baddies. Now its just a total mess of camping stuff and trying to nail down which ocmmoddity sells for how much. I miss my old game
OSI even localized the SoS Messages. I once enjoyed reading the SoS Messages, and wondering which one I would get next. Granted it was a very small part of the game, but little things like that make a RPG what it is supposed to be.
I also dislike the Felucca/Trammel split. That happened years ago, didn't it? I would play Siege Perilous, but is anyone even there? Bah.

I quit playing a month before the split, that was not the reason I left however. And yes, that was quite awhile ago. Regardless of what most say, the core game is pretty much the same as it always has been, I see they have tried to chock in some new things that aren't put in very seamlessly that honestly it looks like you can just ignore most of it. I still haven't figured out the new virtue system, whatever that is all about.

Sorry I am so late replying on this one, I ran an order guild pre trammel and I will say that was alot of fun. You always knew who your enemy was, they were carrying the tag and the sheild and there was no debating attack. You were either attacking or getting attacked. I can remember rolling all over brit city trying to peg off 2 chaos members that wanted to get into a bow fight.
