computer issue

I just bought a gaming computer off of cyberpowerpc and it didn't come with a small heat sink on the asus nforce 650i sli motherboard....also the computer is quite loud, i think it might be the fan.  Can anyone please let me know if it should have come with the small heat sink and also if the fan should be making that much noise? thanks

this looks like the only 650i that asus has and it clearly has a heatsink on the NB. the north bridge should ALWAYS have a heatsink on it, you can prolly get an after market one if you don't want to bother with cyberpower. as far as the noise goes, yeah, i'm betting it's the fans they used. you can also replace those with much quieter and better fans as well.

    *edit*

did you get yourself an OS yet ? (i saw you were looking yesterday)

thank you very much, i spent the day working on the computer.  I ran to the store and picked up a nice northbridge heatsink that i'll install this weekend. Yeah, i figured out that it's the GC making all the noise, a cheap sparkle they sent me > <, i could have sworn i chose the evga. i actually picked up an oem version of home basics today as well, i've had no problems with so far.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to answer this for me but i'll ask anyway...i downloaded rivatuner to turn down my GC fan (which didn't work) and there seems to be an overclocking option on it.  the core clock on it is 540 and the memory is 300...is this my graphics cards clock speeds?? 8600gt 512mb ddr2...they seem so low, if it is my GC would you know how much i could overclock without doing damage?

    Thanks for your help

......They gave you a Sparkle instead of an EVGA, and you selected and paid for an EVGA? Umm, screw the store, contact those assholes and send that PC back.

i agree with spathotan, by them selling alternate hardware in their pcs after you agreed to purchase one with an EVGA card in it is complete shit business. the untold amount of money they save by doing this is disgusting and for the handful of people that ever realize and complain about it can easily be taken care of, i'm sure some excuse that it was a production error or some shit will be spewed.

based on what you so far told..

    no OS

    no northbridge heatsink

a cheaper graphics card over the one you selected.

i'd have to seriously consider ever recommending someone to buy a cyberpower pc. paying for premium and getting emachines is just very uncool.

How much did you actually pay for everything? You should double check that invoice, I do alot of purchasing and depending on what companies you buy from, I've dealt with alot of local ones here and if you order a machine and they don't have a specific part sometimes they try and screw you with the "XXX part or equivelant" business. It just doesn't fly. Double check the fine print, you never know.

As for the Vista Home 64 Bit, I was looking for you yesterday because you mentioned you wanted a Retail Version instead of an OEM.  I wasn't sure why, but I'm happy you got the issue resolved :)  Turns out I couldn't find ANY full Retail Packages of Windows Vista Home Basic 64-Bit edition anywhere.  But I certainly did try!
