So retail Tabula Rasa players, thumbs up or down?

    Thanks!

Smart move, wait until there is a free trial.

If you don't like it during the free trial then you lose nothing.

Buying it blind is fine if you do not mind gambling with your dollars.

the logos system is poorly implemented
you rapidly get tired of killing the same mobs, over and over and over and over (repeat ad nauseum)
    the interface needs love
    the endgame nonexistant
some will like it, some won't, I was pumped during early beta, then watched the fun get sucked out of the game as the devs swung the balance from WOW! to MEH!
basically it's not worth paying full price for - if you are going to get it, I'd suggest picking up one of the discounted copies from the sites listed in other threads, and then revisit your feelings for it shortly before your first subscription payment is due

Another thing to add to that is the fact that a player hit the level cap in 5 days...

All the "casual" and "soloable" content is about to take a nose dive.

Just like CoH this will cause an immediate change in mob difficulty to prevent a rush of level 50s in the next two weeks.

Atm i'm very VERY casual playing TR not touched it this week due to little play time, but hey i hope you not going to buy or not buy a game due to what people say but due to you trying the game. Just imagine if people really would take the words of those who speak ill about games then my bet is none would actualy be playing any game as espeiclay on forums like this we all see that the people who don't like games always try to be louder, though i do my best to also be loud, people should be responsible enough to make up there own opinion but then i do advice to TRY the game, maybe wait for a trial or friends acces if you have or know someone personaly playing the game. Same goes if people speak the world of it , some might feel that way but that doesn't mean you would feel the same if you play it. All a gamer can do is TRY games them selfs, we have seen so many people taking words from people on forums that after they tried a game themselfs sometimes its allot more fun then the naysayers say and sometimes it might be a disappointment when trying hte game yourself.

If....so IF you would, like some speak, consider TR a single player game, i feel you still get worth the play/pay if you buy and pay for one month sub if that is a possiblity and i bet that even if the game doesn't meet your expectation you still might be able to have fun for a month, just like most single player game though some seem to rush into those games aswell in 10/20/30 hours or so. For me PERSONALY i am a gamer and not always that worried if i think a game is cool to play i buy it, i bought LOTRO but havnt installed my retail version did play beta and did try hte 7day trial but ...meh....i just like sci-fi allot more and well even thought LTRO has in many way's more depth as in crafting things i still enjoye (d) TR allot more, and will so sunday again.

For many people tabula rasa is something to play while waiting for the bigger MMOs coming out in 2008.

If you are bored of the games out there, tabula offers something new. Its the most action orientated mmorgp that I have played.

If you read the mission text and try to understand the lore its nice rpg elements. Use the wiki to read about the cormans ;)

It is not a wow clone. It does not try to be one. This will mean that some things from WoW you will miss. And some things you will not.

If you love crafting, you will not find it in game atm. It is there, but nothing worth to use time on atm. Hope this will improve. And when end game comes and its worth to spend credits and time to give those ekstra to you char and equipment it might change. Military Surplus will also help on the little of crafting that is in game. On the other hand. You can save Clone Credits and get a copy of your lvl 50 char to make a pure crafter, that way you dont have to  gimp your adventurer or reroll to get some crafting going on.

If you want hardcore game, that you can spend years in leveling, this is not the game. People have already got to max level since release.

And if you buy the game. Get a guild, and choose a pvp one. The game cries for some good pvp

Does anyone really care how long it takes the same losers to get to max level in every game? They don't play games. I don't know what you'd call what they're doing other than stupid. Every level based MMO is going to have OCD no job/school lamers that reach max level in the first week. Who cares?

MMOs Played: EQ 1&2, DAoC, SWG, Planetside, WoW, GW, CoX, DDO, EVE, Vanguard, TR
    Playing: WAR
Awaiting 40k Online and wishing for Battletech Online

very good point.  Just because some yayhoo powerlevels for days at a time doesn't mean squat.

quite a few people in here  havde stated that they hated beta but love launch.

can they please tell me what have changed between beta and launch. I played for the pre-release 3 days, in what I thought was the final version. what have changed? because I sure as hell could not see anything different.

  • SouvecSouvec Member UncommonPosts: 693

Keep in mind too that the guy that made it to 50, not only played from pre-release, he also played the beta from DAY 1.  He pratically knew everywhere to go to complete missions, collect logos etc.  So I wouldn't count this sort of accomplish to be a feat that everyone will be able to do, nor should one consider this in comparison to TR's depth.

Before you post like this. Ask yourself  "Might this information be of value for someone?"

People ask how long it takes to reach end game. This game has one of the fastest leveling speeds I have seen in a MMO.

and; Yes you can reach end game in a week after launch, even if you have job/school and a IQ over 80; and since I have other things to do than grind months to reach end game, I do care how long it takes.

True. Wasn't really in response to anything like that though. They were pointing out the time it took someone to get to max level as some kind of flaw. Max level can be reached within a week for practically every game on the market that uses a level-based system. They weren't asking how long it takes. They were using it as a point for listing other negatives. It's just stupid. What you're saying is true, but it wasn't the point.

    EDIT: here...

it's going to take a while before we start seeing "average" game time played to reach max level

already know where everything is and rush to the max level? 5 days off and on, ok, we know that.

let me see... I've played my toon for 5 hours, i had some knowledge from beforehand (beta) and I'm level 8...

so let's say (because I never got this far in beta) that it takes me 6 hours to get the next 8 levels and every 8 levels after that...

    50 levels... 42 to go....

    about 31 1/2 hours.

Counting for slow down, more experience for each level.... no idea what the actual numbers are.... but lets... double that!

so let's just round to 72 lol

    3 days game time!

that's only comparable to WoW if you were a WoW power gamer. My first character to 60 took me... about 11 days game time. about 3 days game time from 60-70.

yes, my post was total and complete made up numbers and faulty math. why?

because it doesn't matter how long it takes. it matters if its fun. if you are enjoying the game, play it. period.

I have been out of the MMO scene for a year and a half.  Picked up TR on a whim and now I am back to 4 hours of sleep a night...

So yea, I don't recommend it if you EXPECT to sleep.  Hopefully, the endgame will be fun, but who really gives a damn.  Been there.  Raided that.  Ranked way up there...

My level 17 looks better than my level 60 with a legendary and I am having fun again...that's what's  important.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I can say that I like video games. I guess one who plays them often can be considered a gamer. So maybe I'm a gamer. The type of gamer who realizes that when it comes down to it; I want to in the end have tried them all. Too bad I can't afford it. I want to play every game ever made at least once. Console games, Hand held games, pc games. The ones that stick out I'll remember well. The ones that don't are forgotten.

Everyones experience in any given game is different. If you rely on the word of others in this medium; you'll undoubtedly miss out on some really good games.

Well, from these and other comments, I will probably take a wait and see approach.  I'm a casual gamer that keeps going back to WoW; not for the play per-say, but cause that's where my friends are.  I love sci-fi, but did not like EVE at all, so ya, free trial i guess.  Hope it doesn't take too long.

Well, considering that most MMORPGs these days have levels to keep players playing - the game makers are only doing what they have to do to make money, to keep subscriptions. That's why the MMORPG market isn't going to change - because PvE grinding is what works and 99% of the market is playing games that are PvE grinding games (lineage 2, WoW, EQ2). That means that 99% of the gamers are supporters of PvE grinding because they happen to play those games.

The MMORPG developers aren't going to make a game that you can enjoy personally because less than 1% of the market wants the things you want.

Ok, are you even trying? If you're going to get upset with me and follow me around to everything I post, then at least take the time to understand the context of what the post is about. So far you've accidentally agreed with me, used my own quote as your own but out of context so you looked like an idiot, and (hopefully) unknowingly defended viral marketing. If you can't do any better, I'd suggest you stop. Not because it upsets me, but because you're showing what an idiot you are.

I agree completely with this statement. This MMO is fun to play for me. I will keep subscribing until it ceases to be fun. I think it is a great game, pure and simple. I am baffled by some comments that state otherwise, but I am not surprised.

I dislike sci-fi, but I think this game does deliver the fun.  I think it surpassed my expectations in that respect.  I wish it didn't REQUIRE a high end computer to operate effectively as mine is boarderline and my friend's is a dinosaur.  All in all, I think it lived up to the hype and I hope this game is NCsoft's goldmine.
