Is it that bad?

I was wondering if MxO is as bad as alot of people are conveying it to be . I',m currently looking for a trial key somewhere to see for myself, because people tend to use trenchant remarks about games just because. If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it XD.

its not a bad game concept its just a pain in the ass to play and its very dull things look the same everywhere, you got the same rooms constantly. the fighting system I like could use alittle work but they need to make it less repetative and even easier to level if they want people to play longer.

Things tend to look similar in teh first parts of the game because you are in a low-income area that's primarily housing projects. Differant parts of the city have differant architecture, and thus differant look and feel.

IMO, it's already too easy to level.

All that aside, though, the real draw to MxO is the dynamic story, and the constant live events. Check my sig.

I believe it's the most underrated MMO out there.

I've been playing for almost 8 months now, and I'm having a blast with it.  The combat system is unique, the pvp (at least on my server, Recursion) is so much fun!  The storyline is better than anything ive seen in an mmo.  The live events are USUALLY great fun, and the dynamic storyline is something that should be present in every mmo.

If more people played, and SOE dedicated more developers to the game, it could be one of the top games.

But yes, leveling is repetitive.  I found it easier to bear, and fun, if I switched builds every once in a while, ran the archive missions, and didn't rush myself.

If anyone tries out the game, and plays on Recursion, send Sentrik a tell.

I've played the game once and I love it sooo much, and I regret quitting almost everyday. But, the reason that I did keeps me from signing back up. I'm sure experienced MxO players can't relate to this at all, but lvling in MxO was the biggest bore ever. I hated running those boring ass missions 20 times to lvl, it was insane.

That aside, the community was the best I've ever played with, the customization is always changing, and the rpers will force you to rp with them, even if you don't know your doing it.

if your thinking about joining, join. Theres absolutely no reason not too.

Yup, the standard mission grind is a pitfall a lot of people find themselves falling for.

Take your time and NEVER do standard missions after rep 50 (even thats only so you can get the latest storyline missions). Do archive or contact missions instead, good xp and an involving storyline to keep things interesting, madness ;-)

I recommend the archive missions myself. Best XP, they're fun and interesting, good rewards, good $i, and you can save the tokens to turn in for some pretty damn sweet gear.

Only drawback to them is they can be VERY challenging.

Hey guys can you tell me whether or not I can play MxO WITHOUT having ATI or Geo graphic cards? Because everytime I get to the part where you choose your personality, i click "Accept" and the game freezes . I think it's because i have an Intel graphic card, which is not supported by MxO XD.

  • SkyJackalSkyJackal Member Posts: 390

    Intel? As in on-board? Ouuuccchhhh.

You should probably invest in a card, yeah, a decent one isn't that hard to come by cheaply these days either, i mean the lower end ATI HDs are actually quite nice.

  • diricio1diricio1 Member Posts: 67

XD i dunno what type of Intel card it is, but its not old, i just read that MxO doesn't support anything but like ATI and Geo =/ but yea im gonna go out and buy an ATI card...........AFTER getting my Assassin's Creed 2morrow . Thanks for replying.

Most "Intel graphics processors" are integrated into the motherboard, and are not designed for rendering of games.

You will likely need an ATI or Nvidia (Geforce) graphics card. Some good ones can be purchased for not TOO much. Just remember, the more memory the card has on it, the better, for an MMO, due to the amount of textures that are needed to load. For example, I have 512mb of memory on mine, and it really helps take the strain off the rest of the system.

MXO was a super MMO in beta and right after beta(End beta party was SO COOL!), but that was it's problem beta was to short(they didn't fix all of the big bugs till later), they didn't advertise the game, and they kept adding new content without fixing bugs, Now when i played with my friends after beta we had a blast! But now i hear the game is meh mainly to the lack of players it's still a sweet MMO and PvP With a friend is a lot of fun.

My friend and i both had snipers for PvP we would after school get on top of a budiling and snipe maro. or zion(We were machine) players, It was a ton of fun!

Another sweet thing about the game, when we played was the bi-weekly/monthly event's and live storyline, They were so cool! I am not sure if they do live event's now or storyline anymoe, if they do sweet!

Another thng that was cool is how just about 75% of the buildings were enterable, even if alot of them looked the same you were still able to go in most of them!

A lot of players said they were 2 problems with the game, The grind(which was not bad at all) and the hackers being overpowered(True but wasn't a problem)

If i had the balls i would try to get my friends to play again but they will say no, due to lack of players.

I will say try the trial(since someone pmed you one) and choose your own fate, Good luck and have fun while you play it's the least you can do!

    Playing: Everthing
    Played: DAoC,AC2,EvE,SWG,WAR,MXO,CoX,EQ2,L2,LOTRO,SB,UO,WoW.
I have played every MMO that has ever come out.
