Does Anyone Ever Use The Chat?!?

Everytime I play whatever channel I use, chat/lfg/newbie or the local ones no one is saying a word.... I would like to try out group play at some point but thats impossible with no one talking.
I understand that the chat window is in a stupid place and covers up quest rewards but I would have thought people would use it sometimes.
Do you have to be a subscriber to chat?

no you don't have to be a sub to chat, its just the chat is so miserable to use no one uses it, on when beta was up there was a lot of chatting. but the chat box is just not that comfy to use.
you're probably a little unlucky with the channels you're in too?
yes take up to much room plus when i go on i seem to be the only person in the stations
I never use the chat because I'm in a guild and we use Ventrillo. The chat in HGL is pathetic, and they need to fix it soon.
HGL chat in beta was nothing more than Barrens and Battle.Net chat merged. Good ridence! I'm glad they have it tuned off by default.
I hardly use chat because the guild I am in uses teamspeak, so most of the time I am talking and playing with guildies.
If you type /channeljoin chat-1 you'll find plenty of people chatting.

In the official forums FSS said they were redoing the chat system. I bet you will see changes in the December patch.
I liked how it was in the beta, the top buttons weren't there, (The guild/party/etc.), and it would fade away after a while. I guess they felt the need to make it bulky and 100% Opacity.
